A gym on NW 62nd Avenue in Margate opened on Monday, Oct. 12, as the first complete version of a new club design from Amped Fitness, a Florida-founded chain. The company calls the format Amped Universe: one building split into eight themed rooms, each reached through its own doorway, or portal, and each built around a different kind of workout. Amped announced the Margate opening on Friday, Oct. 9, and described the club as the start of the brand's next chapter.

The themes range from a Roman colosseum to a Balinese Pilates studio to the surface of the moon, and one of them is a nod to South Beach. All eight are included in a single monthly membership, which the company priced at $29.99 with no long-term contract.

Eight rooms, eight kinds of workout

According to Amped's announcement, the Margate club is organized like this:

  • Amped Arena is the main strength floor, designed to look like an ancient Roman colosseum, with oversized figures of Greek and Roman gods.
  • The Babe Cave is a women-only training area. Its portal is styled as the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge.
  • Aura Pilates offers instructor-led reformer Pilates in a room themed on a Bali resort.
  • South Peach is a glute and lower-body training zone dressed in the colors of South Beach in Miami.
  • Lunar Escape is set up as the moon and is meant for meditation, stretching, breathwork and recovery.
  • Azura Cove is the recovery area, with a cold plunge and a sauna.
  • Sweat Cinema is a theater-style cardio room where members run, ride or climb in front of a large screen.
  • Studio Suites are private rooms that can be used for solo workouts, stretching, virtual training sessions, meetings or recording content.

Outside the themed rooms, the club carries the same kind of plate-loaded and selectorized strength machines Amped uses across its locations, including pendulum squats, vertical leg presses, incline fly machines, lateral raise machines and converging chest presses.

Pilates and recovery inside a standard gym membership

For people in Margate, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs and the rest of north Broward, the membership terms are the practical change. Boutique reformer Pilates studios and recovery studios with cold plunges and saunas usually sell their own memberships. Amped's position, laid out in its release, is that those experiences should come with the gym rather than on top of it.

At the Margate club, the company's Revamped membership is $29.99 a month and covers the full set of rooms, including the instructor-led Aura reformer Pilates classes and the recovery areas, along with the rest of the gym. Amped says there is no long-term contract. The company's founder and chief executive, Travis LaBazzo, said in the announcement that the goal is for members not to need several memberships and hundreds of dollars a month to get equipment, Pilates and recovery in one place.

Why Margate came first

Amped Fitness started in Florida and has been growing across the state and beyond it, with clubs in Texas, Arizona and Ohio. In an August announcement about a planned club in Lakeland, the company described Florida as the place where its idea for a more immersive gym first took shape, and said the Lakeland club would also use the eight-room Amped Universe design.

Amped clubs that opened earlier in 2026, including one in Sugar Land, Texas, in July, were promoted with parts of the same immersive approach. The company has said the Margate opening is the first complete expression of Amped Universe, and its announcements for clubs still to come, such as Lakeland, list the same eight rooms.

Who it is for

Amped says the equipment package is meant to work for experienced lifters and everyday gym members alike, and the room layout is built so that a member can do strength work one day, a Pilates class the next and a cold plunge and sauna session after that, without leaving the building or paying for a second studio. The women-only Babe Cave gives members who prefer a separate training space an option on the same membership. The Studio Suites are aimed at people who want a private room for a workout, a stretch or a video call.
