Avelo Airlines will start nonstop flights between West Palm Beach and McKinney, Texas, on Thursday, Dec. 17. The route connects President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT) with McKinney National Airport (DTX) in Collin County, north of Dallas, and will run twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.
Avelo announced the route on Oct. 15 alongside a second new Florida destination from McKinney, Sarasota/Bradenton, which starts a day earlier.
A new airport on the Texas end
Avelo's first McKinney flights depart on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, the same day the airline opens a crew and aircraft base there with three Boeing Next-Generation 737s. The airline expects the base to create about 150 jobs for pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians and airport staff.
With West Palm Beach and Sarasota/Bradenton added, Avelo will fly from McKinney to 11 destinations. Service begins Nov. 11 with nonstops to Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. Flights to Denver, Atlanta, New Orleans and Nashville start in mid-December, along with Sarasota/Bradenton on Dec. 16 and West Palm Beach on Dec. 17. Six of the 11 destinations are in Florida.
