Ben Folds Five, the piano-led trio behind Brick, will play the Pompano Beach Amphitheater on Friday, April 16, 2027, and tickets went on general sale at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 23. The date is part of a return US tour marking the anniversary of the band's 1995 debut album, and it is the only South Florida stop on the run.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. at the Amp, 1801 NE 6th St. in Pompano Beach.

Three Players, No Guitars

The band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with Ben Folds on piano, Robert Sledge on bass and Darren Jessee on drums.

Their self-titled debut came out in 1995. The 1997 follow-up, Whatever and Ever Amen, gave the group its breakthrough and its hit Brick. After three studio albums and a collection of B-sides and outtakes, the trio split in 2000. They reunited in 2012 for a new studio album, The Sound of the Life of the Mind, and a live album, then went their separate ways again in 2013.

The band's website now lists a 30th anniversary edition of the debut album alongside the new tour.

Where Pompano Fits on the Tour

According to the tour dates on the band's own site, the April run opens in Tennessee with nights in Knoxville (April 12) and Chattanooga (April 13), then swings through Florida: Jacksonville's Florida Theatre on April 15, Pompano Beach on April 16 and The BayCare Sound in Clearwater on April 17. From there the band heads to Texas for Austin, Houston and Irving, with a stop in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 24.

That makes the Pompano Beach show the southernmost date on the published schedule and the one closest to anyone living in Broward, Palm Beach or Miami-Dade counties.

Buying Tickets

The Amp sells tickets only through AXS.com. The city's arts department, Pompano Beach Arts, warns on the event page that tickets bought from third-party resellers may not be valid and in some cases could be fraudulent, and it directs buyers to purchase exclusively through AXS to guarantee entry.

The amphitheater seats almost 3,000, and its grounds can hold roughly 7,000 more people, according to Pompano Beach Arts. Questions about the venue go to 561-223-7231 or [email protected].

Also on the Amp's 2027 Calendar

Ben Folds Five joins another rock name already booked for the venue's winter season. Foreigner plays an acoustic show at the Amp on Friday, Feb. 19, 2027, with doors at 6:30 p.m. and an 8 p.m. start. The band's catalog includes Juke Box Hero, Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded, Urgent and I Want to Know What Love Is, and the current lineup is Luis Carlos Maldonado on vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Michael Bluestein on keyboards, Bruce Watson on lead guitar, Chris Frazier on drums and John Roth on guitar. Those tickets are also sold through AXS.

Closer in, the K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR plays the Amp on Sunday, Nov. 1, on its first world tour. That show sold out in less than three days, according to Pompano Beach Arts, so anyone without a ticket already is out of luck through official channels.

A Comedy Residency at the Cultural Center

A few miles away, the Pompano Beach Cultural Center is hosting a different kind of headliner this winter. Comedian Sommore, whose credits include seven comedy specials across Netflix, Comedy Central, Showtime and BET and film roles in Friday After Next and Soul Plane, brings her Chandelier Lounge Residency to the center starting Dec. 11, 2026. Each night pairs live stand-up with a live band and a vocalist.

The opening night features Grammy-winning R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn. Further dates are listed for Jan. 8, Feb. 5 and Feb. 27, 2027. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and shows start at 7 p.m., and tickets are sold through the residency's TicketSpice page linked from Pompano Beach Arts.
