BiCE, the Northern Italian dining room at 313 Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, is turning 100 this year, and it is giving away a $100 gift card to one diner every day from October 1 through January 8. That works out to 100 straight days, which is the whole idea.
The centennial belongs to the family behind the restaurant, not to the Palm Beach location itself, but the island dining room is one of only two places taking part in the giveaway. The other is BiCE Naples on the Gulf Coast. If you live on the island or anywhere in Palm Beach County and have been meaning to book a table on Worth Avenue this season, the odds have rarely been better.
How the 100 days work
The mechanics are simple. According to the BiCE Restaurant Group's announcement, each day one guest is drawn at random from that day's OpenTable reservations at BiCE Palm Beach or BiCE Naples, and the winner gets a $100 BiCE gift card. Every reservation made through OpenTable counts as an entry. The Palm Beach restaurant's own site frames it as one table chosen each evening, with a reservation as the only requirement.
The group calls the promotion 100 Days of Grazie, a thank-you to the guests and staff who have filled its rooms over the decades. Run the numbers and it adds up to $10,000 in gift cards at each of the two participating restaurants before the drawing wraps on January 8, which lands squarely in the heart of the Palm Beach season.
There is a second, softer ask attached. The family is collecting stories from diners at any BiCE location about the birthdays, proposals and anniversaries they marked at its tables, and says it may share some of them on its website and social channels. Submissions go by email to the address listed in the group's announcement.
A trattoria that started with one woman in 1926
The name is a person. Beatrice Ruggeri, known as Bice, was 25 when she opened a neighborhood trattoria in Milan in 1926, according to the group. Her family history, as the company tells it, includes bringing nine younger siblings from Tuscany to Milan and helping them start restaurants of their own, which says a fair amount about how the business thinks of hospitality.
A century later, the family's legacy page says the restaurant is now run by the fourth generation of Ruggeris, with Roberto Ruggeri as chairman and Raffaele Ruggeri as chief executive. The group now operates five locations across Florida, among them the Worth Avenue dining room, BiCE Naples, BiCE Ristorante in Orlando and the more casual Cafe Med in West Palm Beach. The family is also behind Salute in Palm Beach, and the brand has franchise partners around the world.
On the island, BiCE has been a fixture for decades. The group's Palm Beach page leans into exactly what regulars come for: white tablecloths, attentive service and classic Northern Italian cooking on the island's best known shopping street.
A first for the family: its own pasta sauce
The anniversary also brings something BiCE has never done before. The group is releasing its first private-label pasta sauce, developed by Raffaele Ruggeri using ingredients sourced from Italy. The company has not yet said what the sauce will be called, where it will be sold or what it will cost, so consider this the heads-up rather than the shopping list. It is the kind of thing a Worth Avenue regular will want in the pantry, so it is worth asking about at the table.
What is on the table right now
According to the restaurant's site, BiCE Palm Beach serves lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 3 p.m., running until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There is a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, which is a useful window for anyone who wants a martini on Worth Avenue without committing to a full dinner.
The menu covers the classics: handmade pasta, a rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes and rosemary, a seafood salad with fennel and arugula, burrata with grilled vegetables, and a burger that the restaurant singles out as a lunch favorite. The bar leans toward martinis, including a spicy margarita version. The restaurant also books private dining and group events, including a courtyard, and it is taking bookings for season celebrations and holiday gatherings. E-gift cards are sold through the site, for anyone who would rather not leave it to the drawing.
Why it matters on the island
Palm Beach restaurants come and go quickly, and a new name on the island gets most of the attention. A family restaurant reaching 100 years, with four generations still running it and a dining room that has been part of Worth Avenue for decades, is the rarer thing. The centennial is the family's, but the giveaway is for the people who live here: book a table between now and January 8, and every night someone walks out with a hundred dollars toward their next one.
BiCE Palm Beach is at 313 Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. Reservations are taken through OpenTable, and the restaurant can be reached at (561) 835-1600.
