Pitbull, Maluma, Rubén Blades, Becky G, Anuel AA, Kany García and Fuerza Regida are all on the stage schedule for Billboard Latin Music Week, which opens Monday, Oct. 19, at the Faena Forum, 3300 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach. The four days of interviews, panels and showcases run through Thursday, Oct. 22, when the week ends with the Billboard Latin Music Awards across the bay in Miami.
Billboard bills the week as a gathering of the Latin music business, and much of the daytime program is aimed at people who work in it. But the lineup of artist conversations is long, and anyone who registers for a pass can sit in the room for them.
Monday: Kany García, Grupo Frontera and a salsa session
Doors and registration open at 8 a.m. Monday. Billboard co-chief content officer Leila Cobo opens the program at 9 a.m. in the Faena Theater, followed by a session on Miami as a music city with the artist IamChino and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The afternoon brings the members of Grupo Frontera, who will walk through how the band built its own label, BorderTown Records, at 1 p.m. Singer-songwriter Kany García sits for a Superstar Q&A on the stories behind her songs at 1:40 p.m. At 2:25 p.m., salsa singers Tito Nieves and Luis Figueroa talk about salsa crossing generations, and at 3 p.m. Quevedo, Trueno and Kidd Voodoo cover the newer wave of urban music. The registrant-only Santos Bravos showcase closes the night at 9 p.m.
Tuesday: Ryan Castro, a Cuban reparto first, Fuerza Regida and Anuel AA
Tuesday moves to the Faena Forum Main Stage. Ryan Castro joins the duo Baby Rasta & Gringo at 9:35 a.m. to trace a reggaeton hit from cassette to streaming. At 12:30 p.m., a panel with Bebeshito, DJ Conds and Rey Tony y Helabusador takes on reparto, the urban sound of modern Cuba. Billboard describes it as the first conversation of its kind on the genre.
At 2:30 p.m., Mexican soccer star Memo Ochoa interviews the band Fuerza Regida, and at 4 p.m. Anuel AA sits down with Cobo for a Q&A. That night, Fuerza Regida plays a registrant-only Billboard En Vivo show in the Faena Theater at 10:30 p.m. for ages 18 and up.
Wednesday: Maluma, Becky G, Rubén Blades and Pitbull
Wednesday carries the heaviest list of names. At 10:45 a.m., Maluma joins a BetterHelp therapist for a conversation about mental health. Becky G follows with a Superstar Q&A at 1:20 p.m. At 2:50 p.m., Rubén Blades sits for an Icon Q&A, and at 3:40 p.m. members of Grupo Niche join a panel on why older music is drawing younger listeners.
Pitbull closes the Faena program at 4:55 p.m. with a session built around his history on the Billboard charts.
The evening moves to Wynwood Marketplace in Miami, where an 18 and up pre-party with food from Caracas Bakery, The Wolf of Tacos and Sanguich leads into a Billboard En Vivo concert with Jay Wheeler and Zhamira at 8 p.m.
Thursday: the awards
The Billboard Latin Music Awards are presented live Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. from the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami. The show airs on Telemundo and Peacock, and is also carried on Universo and the Telemundo app.
How passes work
Access to the Faena sessions comes through a Latin Music Week registration, bought on the event's registration page, where pass types and current prices are listed at checkout. Billboard says its top tier, the Insider + Award Pass, includes the daytime programming, networking sessions, lounge access, the En Vivo concerts, a gift bag and a ticket to the awards show. Holders of that pass pick up their awards ticket at check-in.
Several evening events, including the Santos Bravos showcase and the Fuerza Regida show, are open only to registrants, run first come, first served and require the Latin Music Week badge. Some are 18 and up and some are 21 and up.
Billboard notes the schedule is subject to change. The full day by day lineup, with session times and rooms, is posted on the Latin Music Week schedule page.
