Six things are on Boca Raton's calendar between Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, Nov. 1. There's a morning yoga class inside the 1927 Town Hall, an evening with the author of a guide to Palm Beach County's odd corners, a free outdoor Hocus Pocus screening, a guided night hike at Gumbo Limbo, a Halloween morning cleanup led by the mayor, and two Halloween-themed concerts by the Lynn Philharmonia. Here is what each one costs and how to get in.

Tuesday, Oct. 27: Yoga inside Historic Town Hall

The Boca Raton Historical Society is holding Flow Through History, a 60-minute yoga class inside The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum at 71 N. Federal Highway, from 10 to 11 a.m. The class is a gentle flow with stretching and a guided meditation at the end, and it is open to all ages and experience levels. Bring your own mat and water.

Tickets are $20 for society members and $30 for everyone else. Space is limited and you have to register ahead on the society's website. If this date doesn't work, the society has scheduled another session for Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the same time.

Thursday, Oct. 29: The weird and obscure side of Palm Beach County

The society's next Town Hall Talk features Amy Woods, author of Secret Palm Beach: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. Her book covers the county's unusual landmarks, little-known episodes and offbeat local characters, the kind of history that sits behind the beaches and estates. Check-in and a reception start at 6 p.m. at the History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, and the talk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Society members get in free and non-members pay $10. Tickets are on bocahistory.org. The GOLS Foundation sponsors the Town Hall Talk series.

Friday, Oct. 30: Hocus Pocus on the Spanish River Library patio

The Boca Raton Public Library is showing the 1993 film Hocus Pocus outdoors on the patio of the Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The screening is free and meant for the whole family. It is part of Boo-ca Boo Days, the city Recreation Services Department's month of Halloween programs at libraries, parks and nature centers.

The city's listing does not say whether seating is provided.

Friday, Oct. 30: A guided night hike at Gumbo Limbo

That same evening, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center at 1801 N. Ocean Blvd. leads Night Explorers, a guided hike after dark focused on the animals that come out at night. It runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and is for ages 7 and up. The fee is $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Registration goes through the city's Boo-ca Boo Days page, which lists ages, costs and sign-up links for every event in the series.

Saturday, Oct. 31: Trash, Trick or Treat with Mayor Andy Thomson

Before trick-or-treating starts, Mayor Andy Thomson and the Boca Raton Historical Society are inviting residents to a cleanup of downtown streets. Volunteers meet at The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, at 9 a.m., and the event runs until 10:30 a.m. It grew out of the mayor's Run the City initiative, which he started in 2021 to explore Boca Raton while picking up litter.

The event is free and open to kids, adults and dogs, and costumes are encouraged. The society provides cleanup supplies, a craft station, water and light refreshments. RSVP on bocahistory.org. With questions, email [email protected] or call 561-395-6766, ext. 100.

Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1: The Lynn Philharmonia's Halloween Spectacular

Lynn University's Philharmonia No. 2 program, billed as a Halloween Spectacular, has two performances at the Keith C. and Elaine J. Wold Performing Arts Center, 3601 N. Military Trail. The first is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and the second is Sunday at 3 p.m. Guillermo Figueroa conducts the Philharmonia, the full orchestra of Lynn's Conservatory of Music students.

The program has three pieces: Mussorgsky's Night on a Bald Mountain, Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. Berlioz's symphony ends with a witches' sabbath. Tickets cost $35 to $50 on Lynn University's events site.

Plan the week

The two History Museum events on Tuesday and Thursday need advance tickets on bocahistory.org. The Saturday cleanup is free but asks for an RSVP.
