Knights on horseback will charge each other with lances at T.Y. Park in Hollywood for three weekends this November, when the Camelot Days Medieval Festival returns on Nov. 7 and 8, Nov. 14 and 15, and Nov. 21 and 22. Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each festival day at 3300 N. Park Road, off Interstate 95 and Sheridan Street.
Camelot Days is run by Camelot Days Inc., a nonprofit, and its program is built around jousting, a living chess game, music, magic, an artisans' market and food and drink in a medieval setting.
Three Weekends, Three Themes
Costumes are encouraged and each weekend has its own theme:
- Nov. 7 and 8: Heroes and Villains. Dress as a champion, a mastermind or a rogue from any story.
- Nov. 14 and 15: Scallywags and Seafarers. Sailors, explorers, pirates and mermaids.
- Nov. 21 and 22: Fanciful Folk of Camelot. Knights, ladies, wizards, fairies and royals from King Arthur's court.
A costume contest is held every day at the chessboard, with judges picking an adult winner, a child winner and a winner for the costume that follows the weekend's theme. The adult and child winners each day receive two passes to Camelot Days 2027. Contest costumes have to be medieval, Renaissance or pirate, except where a themed weekend opens the door wider, and must be rated G or PG.
On the Field and on the Board
The festival's 2026 entertainment list names King Arthur, Lancelot and a search for Excalibur, along with:
- The Joust, by Debracey Productions.
- The Royal Chessmen, a game of chess played by people who fight for each square with swords, staffs and fists.
- Cirque La Vie, a stunt and comedy circus act, on the first and second weekends.
- Nature of Mercy, a pirate sword-fighting comedy show.
- 3 Pints Gone, a harmony-driven band that tells stories in song.
- Ivanovich the Impossibilist, a sleight-of-hand magician.
The festival notes that its lineup can change without notice.
For Kids, Much of It Is Free
Several of the children's activities carry no extra charge once inside: The Quest, a mystery game played by exploring the grounds and talking to characters, with a piece of the King's treasure for solving it; Pirate University; a knighting ceremony; and the Fairy Forest. Scout Quest, for scouts, youth groups and homeschool groups, teaches medieval life and awards a Camelot Days patch. Games of skill, including axe throwing, a ballista and boffer swords, cost extra.
Know Before You Go
- Parking: Camelot Days charges nothing for parking, but Broward County charges $3 per car to enter T.Y. Park on weekends. People arriving on foot or by bike enter the park free.
- Pets: Not allowed, except service animals, under a Broward County policy.
- Weapons: Costume swords and props must be peace-tied at the gate so they cannot be drawn, and nothing with a sharpened edge is allowed in.
- Masks: Masks and headpieces can be removed at management's request.
