The wait for a flight out of West Palm Beach is about to get a proper bar. Coastal Cask by Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, a sit-down whiskey bar built around the Kentucky brand, is on its way to Concourse C at the airport off Southern Boulevard, and state records show the 49-seat space cleared a key step this week. Airport concessionaire Paradies Lagardère first named it in January as one of its signature openings for fall 2026.
What is coming, and where
Coastal Cask sits past security in Concourse C, one of the airport's two passenger concourses. The airport's own coming soon page lists it there, along with a rendering, and says opening dates will be posted as they are confirmed. No date has been announced yet.
Paradies Lagardère, the Atlanta company that runs more than 700 shops, restaurants and bars in over 90 North American airports, is pairing it with a second sit-down concept for the same concourse, Pistache French Bistro. The company has described both as shaped by the coast and the food of the region, which is a welcome change from the generic sports bar that most airports put next to the gate.
A whole concourse changing over
The bar is one piece of a much bigger turnover. Palm Beach County is replacing nearly every place to eat and drink in the terminal, splitting the work between two operators: Paradies Lagardère and HMSHost. Minutes from the county's airport advisory board in March describe a phased switch, with old spots closing and new ones opening in waves, and temporary stands filling gaps, so travelers are never left without coffee.
The list for Concourse C alone reads like a tour of South Florida's food scene. Alongside Coastal Cask and Pistache, the airport lists Pumphouse Coffee, Havana Cuban, TooJay's, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Plum Market with Blue Mountain Coffee House, Vino Volo, Flagler Exchange and a Starbucks. TooJay's in particular is a deli name a local traveler will be glad to see on the way to a gate.
Some of the new lineup is already serving. Worth Avenue Market and a Dunkin' are open before security in the main terminal, and Bit and Bridle Market is open in Concourse B.
The rest of the overhaul
HMSHost holds a ten-year contract for Concourse B and the main terminal, announced in January. Its lineup includes Rocco's Tacos, Tequesta Brewing, Plum Market, Worth Avenue Marketplace and Starbucks, with openings rolling out since this summer. Tequesta Brewing, in particular, puts a beer brewed a few miles up the road from Jupiter on the airport's tap list.
The food work is happening alongside a physical expansion of Concourse B that adds two gates, more seating at the gates and more room for shops and restaurants, with completion targeted for 2028.
A new name on the signs, too
Travelers who have not flown out in a while will notice another change before they ever reach the bar. The airport is now officially President Donald J. Trump International Airport, under a state law signed in March. The county still owns and runs it, and the airport says on its name change page that operations are unchanged and signs are being replaced in phases. Its three-letter code changed to DJT in August, so it is worth checking that an older booking or a ride app shows the right airport.
What it means if you fly out of here
West Palm Beach's airport moved more than 8.5 million passengers in 2024, according to HMSHost, and much of that traffic is the same people flying in and out of their own hometown every few weeks. For years the honest advice was to eat before you left the house. A concourse with a whiskey bar, a French bistro, a Cuban counter and a TooJay's changes that.
When Coastal Cask opens, the move for an evening flight out of Concourse C is to get through security early, take a seat at the bar and order a bourbon flight while the board counts down. It is the first time in a long time that arriving early at this airport sounds like a plan rather than a punishment.
