Free yoga a short walk from the beach is back in Jupiter. Coco Market, the monthly wellness market that has spent the summer on break, opens its Jupiter season on Sunday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seabreeze Amphitheater in Carlin Park, 400 Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, according to the listing on the town's calendar. Getting in costs nothing, there are no tickets, and nobody expects you to buy anything.

For a lot of north county regulars, the first Coco Sunday is the quiet signal that season has started: the heat breaks a little, Carlin Park fills back up, and a Sunday morning has somewhere to go.

What a Coco Sunday looks like

Coco is built around movement first and shopping second. The market runs free movement classes and wellness workshops through the day, open to every level, and the organizers ask you to bring a mat or a towel. The market's own site describes the range: yoga, dance and sound sessions, plus bodywork, reiki, sound baths and rest, alongside workshops, games and family activities and live music.

Then there are the stalls. The vendor lineup is hand-picked and changes every month, and it leans toward small, owner-run South Florida businesses: wellness practitioners, skincare and body care, handmade goods, jewelry, candles, and food and drink. Because the mix rotates, the October market will not look exactly like November's, which is part of the reason people keep coming back.

Bigger than it sounds

It would be easy to picture a handful of tents. The numbers say otherwise. Coco reports more than 1,000 attendees per market and more than 60 markets held since its first one in 2022. That is a crowd closer to a small festival than a craft fair, every month, for free.

The Seabreeze Amphitheater is a natural home for it. The amphitheater in Carlin Park, on A1A, gives the classes a stage and a lawn, and the beach is a short walk away if a morning of stretching turns into an afternoon of swimming.

Who runs it

Coco started in Delray Beach, where it still runs on the first Sunday of every month at Old School Square. The Jupiter edition takes the third Sunday of each month in season. The market works alongside Coco Wellness Collective, a Palm Beach County 501(c)(3) nonprofit that, according to the market's site, helps power its community calendar and local guide and supports people beyond market days.

The model is the opposite of a paid wellness retreat: show up, take a class, wander the tents, leave when you want.

Plan your Sunday

  • When: Sunday, October 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: Seabreeze Amphitheater, Carlin Park, 400 Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, Jupiter
  • Cost: Free
  • Bring: A yoga mat or towel, water, sun protection
  • Questions: 561-870-4090 or [email protected]

Early classes tend to be the coolest part of the day in October, so 9 a.m. is the time to aim for if you want to move rather than browse. If you would rather shop, late morning is when the stalls are in full swing.

The season ahead

In Jupiter, Coco runs on third Sundays from October through April, skipping March, according to the market's schedule page. So after October 18, there is a free Sunday morning at Carlin Park to look forward to most months straight through spring. If you are going to make a habit of one thing this season, a monthly yoga mat on the lawn by the beach is not a bad candidate.
