Wheel throwing on Wednesday mornings, figure drawing on Thursday nights and a comics class for 9- to 12-year-olds: the Coral Springs Museum of Art's late-fall class session starts the week of Oct. 26, and registration is open now through the City of Coral Springs.

The classes meet at the museum's Creative Studios on the second floor of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive. They begin weeks after the museum moved its galleries to a new downtown home at 3380 N. University Drive, which opened Oct. 9 with Picasso: A Graphic Journey, a show of 57 prints on view through Dec. 5.

Adult classes, ages 18 and up

The adult lineup covers drawing, painting and clay, mostly in six- to eight-week runs that end in December. Prices come from the city's registration system.

Drawing. Intro to Drawing meets Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 27 to Dec. 1, for $182.40. Figure Drawing meets Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 29 to Dec. 10, for $192.

Painting. Painting in Motion, an abstract class, meets Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8, Oct. 27 to Dec. 1, for $192. Acrylic 1 runs Wednesday mornings and Acrylic 2 Thursday mornings, $192 each. Watercolor 1 meets Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon for $182.40, and Impressionism in Oil meets Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8:15, Oct. 28 to Dec. 9, for $205.20.

Clay. Wheel Throwing 1 meets Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Hand Building 1 meets Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., both running Oct. 28 to Dec. 23 at $304. Wheel Throwing 2, for students past the basics, meets Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 29 to Dec. 17, for $266.

Classes for kids

Children ages 5 to 8 can take Drawing FUNdamentals on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $117, or Petite Potters on Saturdays from Nov. 7 to Dec. 12, also $117.

For ages 9 to 12, Young Potters meets Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $126, Art and Stories: Comics meets Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for $111.15, and Painting Like the Masters runs Saturdays from Nov. 7 to Dec. 12 for $119.70.

Home-schooled students have their own daytime track. Home Study at the Museum meets Monday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 for ages 5 to 8, starting Oct. 26, and Tuesday mornings for ages 9 to 12, starting Oct. 27. Each session is $208.

Workshops and private lessons

The museum also lists one-time workshops at $65 on Nov. 12 and $50 on Dec. 5, one-day youth camps at $60, and private lessons at $60 an hour.

The city notes that a class that does not reach its minimum enrollment before the registration deadline may be canceled, so signing up early helps a class run. Questions about registration go to the museum at 954-340-5000.
