Coral Springs is setting aside part of the City Hall lawn for the people the evening is about. At the city's free Patriotic Community Concert on Friday, Nov. 6, veterans and their families get a designated VIP area with complimentary refreshments and commemorative lanyards, and the night's centerpiece is an Honor Walk recognizing local veterans for their service.

The music

The headliner is Home Grown, a Zac Brown Band tribute act. The concert runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the City Hall Lawn at 9500 W. Sample Road, and admission is free.

For veterans and their families

The city describes the evening as a show of appreciation for veterans and their families through music, recognition and community. Three pieces of the program are aimed directly at them:

  • A VIP area reserved for veterans and their families.
  • Complimentary refreshments in that area.
  • Commemorative lanyards for veterans who attend.

The Honor Walk, listed by the city as the highlight of the evening, is the moment set aside to recognize local veterans. The concert falls five days before Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The city also runs a separate Veteran Programs page with its year-round offerings for veterans.

Food and local businesses

The evening also includes a Business Expo of local businesses on the lawn. Food trucks are on the way, with the lineup still listed by the city as coming soon.

What to bring, and what to know

  • Seating: lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
  • Water: bring a reusable bottle; there will be a refill station.
  • Dogs: welcome on a leash, and owners must clean up after them.
  • Parking: free in the City Hall garage. The city says anyone who has had too much to drink can take a rideshare home and leave the car parked at City Hall overnight.
