Deerfield Beach has set its 2026-27 Movies in the Park season, five free Friday-night screenings at five different city parks, and the first one comes with a way to get rid of the Halloween pumpkin. Before The Wild Robot plays at Quiet Waters Athletic Complex on Friday, Nov. 6, families can bring their jack-o'-lanterns to a Pumpkin Smash, break them up and have them composted instead of thrown out.
Every screening is free, and the city hands out free popcorn to everyone. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
The season
- Friday, Nov. 6: The Wild Robot (PG), with the Pumpkin Smash, at Quiet Waters Athletic Complex, 4200 W. Hillsboro Blvd.
- Friday, Dec. 18: Elf (PG) at Sullivan Park, 1633 Riverview Road
- Friday, Jan. 22: Zootopia 2 (PG) at Crystal Heights Park, 1333 SW 24th Terrace
- Friday, Feb. 19: Remember the Titans (PG) at the front field of the Oveta McKeithen Recreation Complex, 445 SW Second St.
- Friday, March 19: The Fall Guy (PG-13) at Pioneer Park, 217 NE Fifth Ave.
How the Pumpkin Smash works
The city's instructions are simple: bring your pumpkin, smash it, compost it, then stay for the movie. The city's calendar lists the Nov. 6 evening as Movies in the Park and Pumpkin Smash, running from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
What to bring
Blankets and lawn chairs are the seating. Families can bring their own picnic, or buy dinner from food trucks parked on site. Popcorn is free.
Local businesses interested in sponsoring a night can reach the city's Special Events Office at [email protected].
