E.F. Hutton is putting its name back on the island. The New York investment bank and broker-dealer has signed a lease for an office at 251 Royal Palm Way, on the stretch of Palm Beach known as Bankers Row for its run of banks and wealth firms. The space is being built out now, and the firm says the office will open in spring 2027.

A name with a Palm Beach address

The firm's history on the island goes back to the 1920s. Its co-founder, Edward Francis Hutton, and his wife, Marjorie Merriweather Post, built Mar-a-Lago as their winter home. In those years E.F. Hutton ran offices inside The Breakers and the Royal Poinciana Hotel, and in 1931 it moved into a building of its own on South County Road designed by the architect Addison Mizner.

That Mizner building is still standing, a short walk from the new office on Royal Palm Way. The firm describes the new office as bringing the name back to the island.

What will be inside

The Palm Beach office will house two parts of the firm:

  • E.F. Hutton Wealth Management, an affiliated wealth management firm the company is setting up now.
  • E.F. Hutton's investment banking and capital markets team for South Florida.

The firm says the office is aimed at individuals and families with significant wealth, family offices, registered investment advisors, institutional investors and companies across South Florida. It is the latest addition to a national network of offices the firm has been building in major U.S. financial markets.

Why Royal Palm Way

Royal Palm Way earned the Bankers Row name from the banks and wealth firms clustered along it. E.F. Hutton points to the concentration of family offices, private equity firms, hedge funds and alternative asset managers that have settled in Palm Beach in recent years as the reason for the location.

The firm today

The current E.F. Hutton & Co. is headquartered in New York City and works with corporations, financial sponsors and institutional investors in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America, offering advisory, capital raising and financing services. Its securities business is a member of FINRA and SIPC and is registered with the MSRB. The firm notes that its references to the historic E.F. Hutton describe the history of the name.
