Ethan Allen has opened a new design center at 18713 Biscayne Boulevard in Town Center Aventura, the open-air shopping center just south of Aventura Mall, and the company is billing the store as its return to South Florida. The showroom is open seven days a week, and the interior design help inside it costs nothing.

Where It Is and When It Is Open

The store sits in the same Biscayne Boulevard strip that Aventura residents already use for groceries and errands. Town Center Aventura's own directory lists Ethan Allen alongside Publix, Saks OFF 5TH, Tupelo Honey and a handful of fitness and wellness tenants, with CAVA among the dining options. The center's Ethan Allen page describes room settings on the floor plus fabric and leather swatches, finish samples, custom window treatments, bedding and table linens.

According to the company's September 29 announcement, hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Appointments outside those hours can be arranged on request, which matters for anyone who works a full day downtown or in Fort Lauderdale and can only get to Aventura after dark.

One of Five New Company Stores This Year

Aventura was on the company's list before it opened. When Ethan Allen reported its fiscal 2026 results on July 29, it named five company-operated design centers planned for fiscal 2027: Victoria Gardens in California, Aventura, Burlington in Vermont, Brooklyn and Naples. Two of those five are in Florida. The same report put the brand's North American footprint at 171 retail design centers at the end of June, 141 of them run by the company and 30 by independent owners.

The company said in its announcement that the Aventura store is meant to draw from well beyond the city line. It named North Miami Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Golden Beach and Hallandale Beach as the neighboring communities it expects to serve, along with the rest of greater Miami. For buyers in the condo towers along Collins Avenue or the gated streets of Golden Beach, the drive down Biscayne or across the William Lehman Causeway is short.

How the Free Design Service Actually Works

The part most shoppers do not realize is that the design work is the product. Ethan Allen says its designers do not charge for their time, whether the meeting happens in the showroom or at a client's home. A designer can come to a condo or house, look at the space, and suggest furniture, lighting and rugs. The service also extends to drawing floor plans, designing custom drapery and other textiles, and recommending artwork.

The Aventura store pairs a smaller set of furnished room displays with digital tools that let a client see far more styles and custom options than a single showroom could physically hold. Once a client chooses pieces, the company says most are built to order in its North American workshops; its own materials put the share of custom products made in those plants at about three quarters. The company then handles delivery itself through its in-home delivery service.

Built for People Who Have Not Moved In Yet

One detail fits Aventura and its neighbors especially well. The company says its designers can work from blueprints and run consultations remotely, sending detailed 3D renderings of a proposed layout to clients who have not yet relocated. In a part of Miami-Dade County where a large share of buyers close on a unit months before they arrive, or split the year between South Florida and somewhere colder, that means a living room can be planned, ordered and timed to land while the owner is still up north.

It also helps with the specific puzzle of high-rise living along the Intracoastal: narrow galleries, wide balconies, glass walls and furniture that has to fit through a service elevator. A designer who has seen the floor plan before anything is ordered can catch those problems early.

A Brand With a Long Memory

Ethan Allen traces its furniture making back to 1932 and refers to its 94-year history in the Aventura announcement. Many residents will remember the name from a parent's dining room set or a first real sofa. The company now positions itself less as a furniture store and more as a design studio that happens to sell furniture, and the Aventura location is built around that idea, with furniture galleries on the floor, digital tools for everything that does not fit, and designers as the main point of contact.

Farooq Kathwari, who serves as chairman and chief executive, framed the opening as the brand putting down roots in Aventura and aiming to be the city's go-to stop for interior design.

What It Means for Aventura Residents

For anyone furnishing a new unit at the north end of Miami-Dade, the practical change is simple. A national design service with free house calls is now a few minutes from Aventura Mall and Williams Island, open every day of the week, with appointments available after hours. If you just bought in Sunny Isles Beach or Hallandale Beach and are still living somewhere else, you can start the layout from a blueprint before you ever pick up the keys. And if you only need a second opinion on a sofa or a set of curtains, you can walk in on a Saturday afternoon between a Publix run and lunch and get one at no charge.
