goGLOW, an airbrush tanning brand that lists 48 studios across the country, has opened at 1501 South Federal Highway in Boynton Beach, and its own location map shows it as the company's only studio in Florida. The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency has the studio's ribbon cutting on its calendar for Monday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

What goGLOW does

The studio does one thing: sunless tanning applied by hand. Each session is sprayed by a certified technician using the company's own technique and a formula blended to the client's skin tone. Every appointment includes a color consultation, a pH balancing spray, the hand-sprayed tan and a moisture-locking finish.

The company pitches the service as a way to get color without UV exposure.

Prices

  • Single goGLOW, $60: the standard tan, which develops over 12 to 24 hours and is meant to be left on overnight.
  • Rapid goGLOW, $70: the faster version, which can be rinsed after three to five hours while the color keeps developing over the next day.

Memberships

  • Essential, $45 a month: one session a month, a free upgrade to the rapid rinse, 15 percent off products and other services, and unused sessions that roll over for 30 days.
  • Signature, $80 a month: two sessions a month, the same rapid-rinse upgrade, 20 percent off products and other services, and the same 30-day rollover.

Both memberships require 30 days' notice to cancel. The Boynton Beach studio is also selling Founding Memberships through its page, and there is a points-based rewards program for repeat visits.

Timing a tan for an event

The company's own guidance is to book two to three days before a big event, such as a wedding or a gala, and one day before leaving on vacation. For weddings, it suggests a trial tan two to six weeks ahead, and brides get 20 percent off that trial when it is booked in that window.

Hours

  • Monday, Tuesday and Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
