Gordon Ramsay is reopening his South of Fifth room on Miami Beach with a new identity and a heavier focus on beef. Lucky Cat Steak is set to open on Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to the restaurant's new website, whose landing page announces the return to the blocks below Fifth Street and offers a sign-up form for early reservation access.

The new restaurant pairs prime cuts and rare Wagyu with Japanese and Korean flavors, and the company says the cooking will carry a distinctly Miami accent. A new drinks list built around signature cocktails is also part of the plan, along with a late-night atmosphere that keeps the room going after dinner.

A return after the pause

The steakhouse follows Lucky Cat Miami, the Asian open kitchen and late-night lounge that Gordon Ramsay Restaurants brought to the neighborhood as the third Lucky Cat in the world, after London's Grosvenor Square and Manchester. That restaurant has since gone quiet. Its page on the Gordon Ramsay Restaurants site describes the closure as a seasonal pause, thanks guests and staff for a first chapter, and says the team was taking time to think about what a second one could be. Bookings for the original concept are no longer taken.

Lucky Cat Steak is that next chapter. The restaurant's own site frames the opening as a homecoming to South of Fifth rather than a brand-new arrival, and the Nov. 25 date puts it on the calendar the day before Thanksgiving.

What changes on the menu

The first Lucky Cat Miami was built around shared Asian small plates, robata-grilled dishes, sushi and sashimi, prepared in an open kitchen with a raw carving bar. The restaurant drew its look and mood from the kissa music clubs of 1930s Tokyo and the drinking dens of Shanghai, places known for late-night jazz, dancing and whisky.

The new version keeps that Asian foundation but moves steak to the center of the table. The company's description points to prime beef and Wagyu as the anchors, with Japanese and Korean seasonings and techniques shaping how they reach the plate. Full menus, prices and hours have not yet been posted on the restaurant's website, so diners who want specifics will need to watch for updates as opening day gets closer.

Where Lucky Cat still operates

While the Miami Beach room was dark, the Lucky Cat name stayed active in the United Kingdom. Gordon Ramsay Restaurants lists locations in Mayfair, Manchester and at 22 Bishopsgate in the City of London.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants already runs a separate Gordon Ramsay Steak line in North America, along with Hell's Kitchen, which has a Miami location. Lucky Cat Steak sits apart from both, carrying the Lucky Cat name and its late-night personality rather than the classic steakhouse branding.

How to get a table

Reservations are not open yet. The restaurant is collecting names through a waitlist on its website, and the company says people who join will get first access to bookings along with opening news. For anyone hoping to eat there in the opening weeks, signing up now is the only route the restaurant has published.
