The Lake Worth Beach Golf Club opened in 1926, and the city is marking its 100th year with a Roaring Twenties gala on Saturday, November 14, that starts at the golf course's clubhouse restaurant and ends with dinner in the Casino Ballroom on the beach. Guests ride festive trolleys between the two, and every ticket helps fund the city's Junior Golf League.
A Night That Moves Across Town
Most galas stay put. This one is built around a trip between two of the city's best-known waterfront addresses. According to the city's event page, the evening opens with a cocktail hour from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Worth Beach Club Restaurant, 1 7th Ave. N., the clubhouse at the golf course. When that wraps, guests climb aboard trolleys for the ride east to the Casino Ballroom at 10 S. Ocean Blvd., where dinner, live entertainment, dancing and the main program run from 6:45 to 11 p.m.
Tickets are $100 a person. The city lists what that covers: the cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, one drink ticket at each stop, the trolley ride, dinner and the entertainment. A cash bar is available during the opening hour. Registration runs through the city's WebTrac recreation system, and the Special Events team takes questions by phone and through the Lake Worth Beach Connect portal. The dress code is a suggestion, not a rule, but the city is plainly hoping for flapper dresses, pinstripes and the occasional fedora.
Why the Money Goes to Kids
The city says proceeds will go to the Lake Worth Beach Junior Golf League, which introduces young players to the game and helps them build skills on and off the course. That choice says something about how the city sees the course. It is a municipal facility, owned and run by Lake Worth Beach and managed by the same Leisure Services department that oversees the beach, the pier, the library and the city's parks, according to the Leisure Services page. A centennial that pays for the next generation of local golfers is a way of keeping a public course public in practice, not just on paper.
The city also ran a commemorative brick program tied to the anniversary. Orders closed on September 2, and the city says the engraved bricks will be installed at the Golf Club this winter, so residents who missed the gala will still have something new to look at on their next round.
The Ballroom Has Its Own History
The second stop of the night is no ordinary banquet hall. The city describes the Casino Building as a 1920s landmark anchoring its beachfront complex, with restaurants, shops, a ballroom of about 3,000 square feet and a terrace that wraps around the building and looks out over the Atlantic. Holding the golf club's birthday dinner inside a building from the same decade is a neat bit of staging: two pieces of 1920s Lake Worth, joined for one night by a trolley line.
Just outside, the William O. Lockhart Pier runs 960 feet into the ocean, which the city calls one of the best land-based fishing spots in Florida. Anyone arriving early for dinner can walk out at sunset before the program begins.
A Season of Big Birthdays in Lake Worth Beach
The golf club is not the only local institution hitting a round number. The city's annual Holiday Parade turns 60 this year, and the city has given the milestone edition a Candyland theme, with lit floats, performers and marching bands rolling through downtown at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 5. It is free to watch.
Out on Congress Avenue, the Watson B. Duncan III Theatre at Palm Beach State College's Lake Worth campus has been presenting shows since 1986, according to the college. The Duncan Theatre's own page says it will celebrate its 40th anniversary with its 2027 season of visiting professional artists. That lineup opens January 11 with Queens of Song, starring Crystal Stark, and runs through American Ballet Theatre Studio on April 2 and 3. Along the way are the Trinity Irish Dance Company (January 29 and 30), the Jupiter Quartet (February 24), Rioult Dance (March 5 and 6), Parsons Dance (March 19 and 20) and a Duran Duran tribute on January 22. The box office is open weekday afternoons from noon to 4 p.m., and the college warns buyers to purchase only through the official box office, since unauthorized resale sites have been charging inflated prices.
Before any of that, the city's 2026 to 2027 event season opens closer to home. According to the city's announcement, Little Scream Truck-or-Treat comes to Bryant Park on Friday, October 30, at 6 p.m., and the beachfront bonfire nights at the Casino and Beach Complex return on November 6.
What It Means If You Live Here
Lake Worth Beach tends to celebrate itself in public places that belong to everyone: a city golf course, a city-owned ballroom on a city beach, a parade down its own downtown streets. The centennial gala follows that pattern. It is a ticketed night, but the money stays in town and lands with kids learning the game on a course the city has run for generations. If you have ever played a casual nine there, watched a sunset from the clubhouse, or simply driven past its fairways on 7th Avenue North, November 14 is the rare chance to toast the place in costume and then ride a trolley to the beach for dinner. For a city that likes its history worn lightly, that is about as fitting a birthday as it gets.
