Students from Miami City Ballet's Pre-Professional Division will dance a free evening program at the Doral Central Park Amphitheater on Saturday, Nov. 14, the same day the Downtown Doral Arts Festival opens in Downtown Doral Park with more than 60 artists. Between the two, Doral gets a full arts weekend without a ticket price on either one.

Ballet in the park, Nov. 14

The City of Doral is hosting An Evening of Ballet with Miami City Ballet's Pre-Professional Division from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Doral Central Park Amphitheater, 3005 NW 92nd Ave.

The program has two performances, Rita Finds Home and Ballet Classics, and an interactive group dance class.

The event is free and open to the public. The city asks people to register through its Eventbrite page, CityofDoral.Eventbrite.com, and lists [email protected] for questions.

The arts festival, Nov. 14 and 15

The Downtown Doral Arts Festival, presented by Baptist Health, runs Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at Downtown Doral Park, 8395 NW 53rd St.

The city and the festival list more than 60 artists, along with live art, live music, artisan vendors, local shops, restaurants and bars, craft food and drinks, and activities for children. Admission is free, and the festival invites visitors to bring their pets. As of Tuesday the festival's site was still inviting artists to apply.

Doral incorporated in January 2003 and now has more than 80,000 residents, according to the festival. Before November, the city's calendar lists Life in Full Color, a free celebration ahead of Día de los Muertos on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Doral Cultural Arts Center, 8363 NW 53rd St., with live mariachi, food and drinks, and a display of the alebrijes painted at the city's Art After Dark class. Space is limited and the city asks guests to register on Eventbrite.

Planning the weekend

The arts festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday in Downtown Doral and the ballet starts at 4 p.m. in Doral Central Park, so a family can see both on the same day. Sunday is festival only.
