One of London's most cheerful fashion labels is crossing the Atlantic, and it picked the island for its landing. Mira Mikati is listed as coming soon to The Royal Poinciana Plaza at 340 Royal Poinciana Way in Palm Beach, in Suite M325F, and the plaza is already hiring a store ambassador and sales staff for the shop.

For a brand that has spent a decade building a following on embroidered denim, bright knits and art-world collaborations, it is a big step. According to its own website, the label has had exactly one shop of its own until now: the Happy House on Walton Street in London's Chelsea. Palm Beach gives it a door in the United States, and the plaza notes that a Paris location is also in the works.

Who Mira Mikati is

The designer behind the label was born in Lebanon and raised in Paris, and now works out of London. Her brand story traces a fashion education that ran through ESMOD in Paris, Parsons in New York and Central Saint Martins in London, followed by Plum, a contemporary fashion concept store she co-founded in Beirut. She launched her own name in 2015 at Colette, the Paris shop that for years was the place new labels went to get noticed, before setting up in London.

The house style is easy to spot across a room. Think tailored jackets and jeans covered in hand embroidery, appliqué and patchwork, shirts and knitwear in saturated color, silk scarves and playful accessories. The brand describes its own mood as carefree and a little whimsical, built around art, travel and the feeling of a summer that never quite ends. Its slogan, more or less, is that clothes should make you happy, and the London shop is literally called the Happy House.

A long list of collaborators

Much of Mira Mikati's reputation comes from who she works with. The label's collaborations include the artist KAWS, with a 2018 run of jackets that used appliqué, print and embroidery to recreate the colors of his paintings, along with artists Javier Calleja, Mr. and Darcel. On the brand side it has partnered with Mulberry, Hublot and Canada Goose, whose 2024 collection put the label's bright patterns on serious winter outerwear. The label has also worked with footballers Pelé and Kylian Mbappé, and the current lineup includes a Grateful Dead capsule.

That mix of street art, sport and luxury is a big part of why the brand draws collectors as well as shoppers, and a store of its own is where the full range lives under one roof.

Why The Royal Poinciana Plaza

The choice of address fits the plaza's history. The Royal Poinciana Plaza was designed by architect John Volk, who worked for families like the Vanderbilts and Pulitzers, and was commissioned by John S. Phipps with instructions that it last at least fifty years. According to the plaza's own history, Gucci opened its very first store outside New York there. A European label choosing the same courtyards for its first American storefront is a familiar Palm Beach story.

Today the landmarked plaza on Royal Poinciana Way mixes big luxury houses with smaller, younger labels. Its tenant list includes Bottega Veneta, Cartier, LOEWE, Thom Browne, Staud, LoveShackFancy and Dr. Barbara Sturm, plus Sant Ambroeus and Celis Juice Bar for a break between shops. Zimmermann is also listed as coming soon, so the plaza is adding two new fashion names at once heading into the season.

When to go

No opening date has been announced. The plaza's listing gives store hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and the boutique is reachable through the plaza at 561-440-5441. With staff being hired now and the winter season about to start on the island, the timing suggests the doors will open sooner rather than later. The brand's Instagram and the plaza's tenant page are the places to watch.

Palm Beach already has no shortage of places to buy a beautiful jacket. What it gets here is something it does not have: the first American home of a London label that treats getting dressed as a reason to smile, a few steps from where Gucci made the same leap decades ago. For anyone on the island who has been ordering embroidered denim from overseas, the shipping wait is about to get a lot shorter.
