The island's week starts Monday with a winery tasting at The Royal Poinciana Plaza. Two free book programs at the Four Arts' King Library follow on Wednesday and Thursday, and a fine jewelry designer visits a plaza boutique through Saturday. Here is what is on the calendar from Monday, Oct. 26, to Saturday, Oct. 31.

Monday, Oct. 26: Three Sticks tasting at Virginia Philip

Virginia Philip Wine, Spirits & Academy at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, 340 Royal Poinciana Way, hosts a Three Sticks tasting from 6 to 7 p.m. Greg Meyer, who has represented the winery's wines across the Southeast since 2019, will pour four wines:

  • 2022 Durell Vineyard Chardonnay
  • 2023 Gaps Crown Chardonnay
  • 2023 Gaps Crown Pinot Noir
  • 2022 Pice Family Vineyard Pinot Noir

The plaza calendar describes the evening as a small tasting for both newcomers and existing members of the winery. Registration is through the event listing, which does not give a price.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: Courtney Psak on The Aunt

Palm Beach author Courtney Psak talks about her latest novel, The Aunt, at 1:30 p.m. in the Four Arts' King Library, 101 Four Arts Plaza. The book is a suspense story about a family and its secrets, set in Palm Beach. Psak will cover where the idea came from, how she writes and the family loyalties the plot turns on.

Psak worked at Cosmopolitan, Self and Modern Bride before writing her first novel, Thirty Days to Thirty, in 2015. At the time she was a project manager at Viacom in New York. She now lives in Palm Beach with her husband and two sons. The talk is part of the Four Arts' Florida Voices series. It is free and also streams on Zoom, but reservations are required.

Wednesday, Oct. 28: Shop Pink at Alice + Olivia, then Jarvis Estate

From 5 to 7 p.m., Jane Hanson hosts a benefit shopping evening at Alice + Olivia Palm Beach in The Royal Poinciana Plaza. The store will offer champagne and free embroidery. Shoppers who donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at checkout get 20 percent off their purchase, with some exclusions. Questions go to [email protected].

At 6 p.m. the same evening, Virginia Philip hosts its second winery visit of the week. Silvio Coccia, Jarvis Estate's vice president of sales and hospitality, leads an hour-long tasting. The wines have not been announced yet. Registration is through the plaza's event listing.

Thursday, Oct. 29: Chekhov's Ward No. 6

The Four Arts Short Story Book Group meets at 2 p.m. to discuss Anton Chekhov's Ward No. 6. The story follows a doctor in a provincial hospital as the line between sanity and madness starts to blur. Margaret Wilesmith moderates. She is a brand strategist and copywriter, and she ran Wilesmith Advertising | Design from 1998 to 2018. Participants are expected to have read the story beforehand. The group is open to the public at no charge, and each meeting requires a reservation.

Thursday, Oct. 29, to Saturday, Oct. 31: Jared Lehr at Marissa Collections

Jewelry designer Jared Lehr will be at Marissa Collections in The Royal Poinciana Plaza for three days. He sources gemstones from around the world and designs one-of-a-kind pieces based on his travels. RSVP through the plaza's event listing.

Every Thursday: live jazz at Sant Ambroeus

Sant Ambroeus Palm Beach in The Royal Poinciana Plaza has live jazz every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., including Oct. 29. The menu has Milanese dishes, Florida-influenced plates and pastries made in house. Reservations: 561-285-7990.

The Four Arts is renovating, and parking on campus is very limited during programs. The Four Arts recommends carpooling, ride share or being dropped off.
