Fifty-seven original prints by Pablo Picasso are on the walls of the Coral Springs Museum of Art through Dec. 5. The exhibition, Picasso: A Graphic Journey, opened Oct. 9 at the museum's gallery at 3380 N. University Drive, and it covers almost half a century of the artist's printmaking, from 1923 to 1972.

What is in the show

The prints were selected from the collection of Timothy Collins of Los Angeles. They span the techniques Picasso returned to throughout his career: etchings, lithographs and linocuts. The exhibition also includes a rare canceled copper printing plate.

One section of the show traces a single image as it changed. The museum is hanging multiple proofs of Tête de Femme au Chapeau, so visitors can follow the work from early color studies to the final composition, one pass through the press at a time.

Eric Mourlot wrote the essay that accompanies the exhibition.

A new address for the museum

The gallery at 3380 N. University Drive sits near University Drive and Sample Road in the city's downtown. The City of Coral Springs announced the museum's move to a downtown gallery at that corner earlier this year, with an opening planned by September 2026.

Two other exhibitions are on view at the same time. Cages and Collage presents the work of artist Janet Gold, and Art and Evolution looks at the museum's own history and its new identity.

Talks and a hands-on workshop

The museum has scheduled a lecture on Picasso's prints and a Gelli printmaking workshop to go with the exhibition. Gelli printing makes one-of-a-kind prints on a soft gel plate, without a press. Dates and registration for both are posted on the museum's events page.

The museum also runs art classes and camps out of its Creative Studios at 2855 Coral Springs Drive, including One Day Camps for children on school holidays starting Nov. 3.

Who paid for it

The exhibition is supported by the Broward Cultural Division, the City of Coral Springs and Funding Arts Broward.
