Plantation's kids get three ways to go after candy and pumpkins on Saturday, Oct. 24: a pumpkin patch floating in the city pool in the morning, a car and truck show where the drivers hand out treats in the afternoon, and a superheroes-versus-villains trunk-or-treat for residents at night. Around them, Plantation Walk's free outdoor stage has live music four nights running. Here is Plantation's week of Oct. 19 to 26.

Saturday morning: Pumpkin Patch in the Pool

The City of Plantation fills the pool at the Plantation Aquatic Complex, 9151 NW 2nd St., with floating pumpkins on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids swim out, choose a pumpkin and bring it back to the deck to carve.

The city's flyer lists admission at $5, or $10 with a pumpkin. Registration is required and has been open since Sept. 21; sign up by calling 954-452-2525. Swimmers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Saturday afternoon: Trunk or Treat Car and Truck Show at Plantation Walk

Plantation Walk, 321 N. University Drive, holds its third annual Trunk or Treat Car and Truck Show on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. Starting at 5 p.m., the owners of the show cars and trucks hand out candy from their vehicles while supplies last.

The rides compete for five Merchant's Choice trophies awarded to the best Halloween-themed entries, and there is live music through the afternoon. Admission and parking are free, it is open to the public and pets are welcome. Plantation Walk asks visitors to RSVP through its Eventbrite link and notes that outside food, drinks and coolers are not allowed.

Saturday night: Superheroes vs. Villains Trunk-or-Treat

The city's own trunk-or-treat runs the same evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pine Island Park, 320 S. Pine Island Road. This year's theme is superheroes versus villains, with Superhero Swim Academy as sponsor. The flyer lists candy, a selfie station, music and food for purchase, and the event goes on rain or shine.

This one is for Plantation residents only, and proof of residency is required at the gate. Questions go to 954-797-2180. Families who live outside the city can head to the Plantation Walk show instead, which overlaps it by two hours.

Thursday through Sunday: Plaza Live at Plantation Walk

Plantation Walk's free outdoor concert series, Plaza Live, fills the Plaza stage four days in a row this week, according to the center's live music calendar:

Thursday, Oct. 22: Germán Dhers, 5 to 9 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 23: Radio, 6 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24: DJ K, 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 8 p.m., the second set running alongside the car show
Sunday, Oct. 25: Robert Dubwise Browne, 4 to 8 p.m.

Admission and parking are free, and pets are welcome. Lineups can change, so check the calendar before heading out.

Saturday morning: Weekend Wellness on the lawn

Before the music starts on Saturday, Plantation Walk's Weekend Wellness Series runs a free 45-minute class on the Plaza Lawn, rotating among Zumba, HIIT, Pilates and yoga, with a DJ and a weekly gift card drawing. Check-in is at 10 a.m. and class starts at 10:30. Bring a mat or towel and register through the center's Eventbrite link.
