The driver who wins the NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 8, will lift a trophy nobody has held before. Homestead-Miami Speedway and NASCAR announced on Oct. 14 that Romero Britto, the Brazilian-born artist who built his career in Miami, has designed a one-of-a-kind trophy for that race winner to hoist in Victory Lane. Britto is also painting a custom mural atop the speedway's tower and launching a line of NASCAR merchandise carrying his artwork, all for the first Championship Weekend the track has hosted since 2019.
A trophy, a tower and a title
The trophy is the centerpiece of the partnership, according to the speedway's announcement. It goes to the winner of Sunday's Cup Series race, the last race of the 2026 season, and joins NASCAR's traditional hardware rather than replacing it.
The mural is meant to outlast the weekend. The speedway says the artwork atop its tower will greet fans and race teams as they arrive and will stay on the building for years afterward, so anyone driving past the track on the way to the Keys or Biscayne National Park will be able to see it after the haulers leave.
Britto also takes on a title for the day. He has been named Honorary Creative Director for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race and will join the other race dignitaries in the pre-race ceremonies on Sunday.
BRITTO X NASCAR, on sale at the track
The merchandise collection is called BRITTO X NASCAR, and it debuts on site during Championship Weekend. The speedway describes it as apparel, headwear and novelty items that put Britto's bright colors and patterns together with NASCAR branding. The announcement does not list prices or say whether the line will be sold online after the weekend, so the track is the place to find it.
Who Romero Britto is
Britto was born in Brazil, works out of Miami and founded what he calls the Happy Art Movement, built on bright colors and bold patterns. According to the speedway's announcement, his work has been shown in more than 120 countries, and he has contributed designs to the Super Bowl, the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. The announcement also says his pyramid sculpture in London's Hyde Park is the largest sculpture in the park's history.
Charity runs through his career. The speedway's announcement credits him with contributions to more than 250 charities and organizations and more than $120 million in donations worldwide, and it notes that he serves on the boards of several groups, including Best Buddies International and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In the announcement, speedway president Guillermo Santa Cruz tied the partnership to South Florida's mix of cultures and described the tower mural as a future landmark for the region. Britto said he has long loved the speed and movement of watching race cars go by, and that he sees the same energy in his own work.
The weekend schedule
Championship Weekend crowns the champions of all three of NASCAR's national series over three days in south Miami-Dade:
- Friday, Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m.: NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship race.
- Saturday, Nov. 7, 5 p.m.: NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship race.

Tickets and add-ons
The speedway sells single-day grandstand tickets for each of the three days, plus a three-day package covering all three races. Its admissions page also lists a Pre-Race Pass for access to driver introductions and the opening ceremonies (required for all ages, and the way to be close by when Britto joins the pre-race festivities), parking near the track, scanner rentals, a commemorative ticket and the NASCAR One fueled by Elevate behind-the-scenes package.
For Sunday, the track is taking preorders for Loaded Coolers: a Party Pack with up to four 12-ounce beers and two waters for $75, or a Family Pack with six Coca-Cola products, water included, for $65, one per person online, with valid ID required at pickup.
