Sixteen restaurants and shops in and around Mizner Park will each serve a bite and a drink to ticket holders on Saturday, Nov. 14, for the Savor Boca Experience, a walking tasting afternoon put on by the Rotary Club of Boca Raton. Tickets are $65 for one person or $100 for two, and the money goes to the club's charitable work, which includes a scholarship program the club says has awarded more than 600 scholarships worth $3.5 million.
How the afternoon works
Check-in is at 1 p.m. on the middle median in Mizner Park. Each guest picks up a culinary passport and a swag bag with a raffle ticket inside. From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., guests walk the route at their own pace. Every stop serves a featured bite paired with a beverage of its choosing and stamps the passport before you move on. The organizers say every restaurant on the route is within a few blocks of Mizner Park, so no one needs a car between stops.
The tastings end at Serena Pastificio, 301 Plaza Real, where the after party runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with an extended happy hour, music, a silent auction and the raffle drawing. It is included with every ticket.
The 16 stops
The route covers three parts of downtown: Mizner Park, Mizner Plaza and the blocks of downtown Boca around them.
- Mizner Park: American Social Bar & Kitchen (351 W. Plaza Real), Kapow Noodle Bar (402 Plaza Real), Pure Green juice bar (324 Plaza Real), Spirits and Spice (314 Plaza Real), Serena Pastificio (301 Plaza Real) and Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar (501 E. Palmetto Park Road).
- Mizner Plaza: Ramen Lab Eatery and Poke Jay (both at 100 NE Second St.), Savia, a Sicilian restaurant at 200 E. Palmetto Park Road, and Pzza &.
- Downtown Boca: Corvina Seafood Grill (110 Plaza Real S.), AJ's Italian Deli (100 NE Second St.), Just Baked (80 N. Federal Highway), La Mesa Café Bistro (48 NE First Ave.), Belladuke's gourmet pantry (155 E. Boca Raton Road) and Talkin' Tacos.
The mix runs from ramen, poke and pan-Asian noodles to Sicilian, a deli, tacos, pizza, seafood, a bakery, two coffee bars and a shop that sells spirits and spice blends.
Who is behind it
The Rotary Club of Boca Raton was founded in 1957 and meets for lunch on Wednesdays at noon at Crazy Uncle Mike's, 6450 N. Federal Highway. It is producing Savor Boca with Savor Our City, which runs tasting tours and food events, and Laurra Does Events, the planning and production partner. Local businesses are sponsoring, and the club is still taking sponsors at levels from $500 to a $10,000 title package.
