Sushi by Bou, the omakase brand built around intimate, timed chef's counter dinners, is now serving at Trump National Doral, and the Doral counter is the biggest one the company has built. The resort's restaurant page lists 20 seats, five seatings a night, seven nights a week, with tasting menus starting at $70 a person.
For Doral residents, it is a notable addition close to home. Omakase, the Japanese format where you sit at the counter and let the chef choose each piece, has mostly meant a drive to Brickell, Wynwood or Miami Beach. Now it is a few minutes away on NW 87th Avenue.
How the Night Works
Sushi by Bou runs on timed seatings instead of open reservations through the evening. At Doral, the resort lists seatings at 5, 6:15, 7:30, 8:45 and 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Everyone at the counter starts together, and the sushi chef works through the menu piece by piece, so it feels closer to a small show than a regular dinner. The resort notes that reservations are limited, which makes sense with only 20 seats per turn.
There are three menus to choose from:
- Signature: 12 courses for $70 a person, offered Sunday through Thursday
- Bougie: 17 courses for $125 a person, built around seasonal and imported fish
- Bou Reserve: $175 a person, adding premium extras such as caviar, Wagyu and truffle
Drinks include craft cocktails, sake, beer and wine chosen to go with the sushi. The weeknight Signature menu is the easy entry point: a 12 course chef's counter dinner for $70 is a gentle way to try omakase in Miami-Dade County without a big splurge.
The Room
The Doral room is built for atmosphere. The resort describes guests taking their seats beneath hand painted gold koi, which sets a very different mood from the golf course outside. With 20 seats, it is a step up in size from the brand's usual counters, so it can work for a group birthday or a team dinner as well as a date night. The company also handles catered events through its events team.
A New Name on the Resort's Dining Lineup
Trump National Doral, the 4400 NW 87th Avenue golf resort that has been a Doral landmark for decades, already runs several restaurants. Its dining page now lists Sushi by Bou alongside BLT Prime, Champions Bar and Grill, the poolside Palm Grill and The Living Room. The new counter adds something none of those offer: a short, focused, chef driven meal that ends early enough to still make it home on a weeknight.
You do not need to be a hotel guest to book. Reservations run through the Sushi by Bou and resort websites.
Part of a Growing South Florida Map
Sushi by Bou started in New York and now runs counters across the country, from Chicago and Nashville to Washington and Puerto Rico. In Florida, the company's locations page now lists Doral alongside Fort Lauderdale (at Pier Sixty-Six), Palm Beach Gardens (at PGA National Resort) and Boca Raton (at Royal Palm Place). Doral is the Miami-Dade stop on that list, which makes it the closest option for residents of Doral, Miami Springs, Sweetwater and the airport area.
A Busy Week at the Resort
The opening lands during an especially local week at Trump National Doral. The resort is hosting the city's Mayor and Chief's Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and the black tie Mayor and Chief's Gala on Friday, Oct. 16, both raising money for Parks and Police 4 Kids, which funds mentoring, education and recreation programs for Doral kids. Last year's inaugural events raised more than $300,000 for the foundation.
Worth a Reservation
Doral has spent the last few years adding the kinds of places residents used to drive across the county for, from Downtown Doral restaurants to the new Doral Central Park. A 20 seat omakase counter at the city's best known resort fits that pattern. Book a Sunday through Thursday seating for the $70 Signature menu if you want to try it without a splurge, or save the Bou Reserve for a birthday. Either way, it is one less reason to leave Doral for a special dinner.
