Taylor Fritz is coming back to Delray Beach in February with a chance to do something no player has done in the tournament's 35 years: win it three times. The Delray Beach Open announced on Oct. 8 that the American, who won the title in 2023 and 2024, has committed to the 2027 event, which runs Feb. 12 to 21 at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center on West Atlantic Avenue.

It will be his ninth trip to the downtown stadium. The tournament says more player announcements will follow over the coming weeks, but Fritz is the first name on the 2027 board, and the tickets to see him are already on sale.

Two titles in a row, and a shot at a third

Fritz's back-to-back wins put him in short company. According to the tournament, he is only the second player to defend the Delray Beach title successfully. The first was Jason Stoltenberg, who won in 1996 and 1997. In 2024 Fritz also joined seven other champions who have taken the trophy without losing a set.

No one has won the event three times. A 2027 title would make Fritz the first.

He arrives off a busy 2026. The tournament notes that the 28-year-old American, ranked No. 12 in the world, reached four finals this year, in Dallas, Stuttgart, Halle and Washington, and won the ATP 500 event in Washington in August for the 11th title of his career. He also reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals this summer, and he played in the US Open final in 2024.

The 35th anniversary starts with the legends

The first three days belong to the Legends Event, a round-robin on Stadium Court from Friday, Feb. 12, to Sunday, Feb. 14. The tournament announced its lineup in September: Andy Roddick, a former world No. 1 and the 2003 US Open champion; twins Bob and Mike Bryan; former world No. 2 Tommy Haas; Jan-Michael Gambill; brothers Luke and Murphy Jensen; Ryan Harrison; and Jesse Levine.

Opening night on Friday, Feb. 12, puts Roddick and Haas against the Bryans at 8 p.m., after a 6 p.m. doubles match. Roddick will also be inducted into the Delray Beach Open Walk of Fame after his match that night. The Bryans went into the Walk of Fame in 2018. Saturday has a day session and a night session, with Roddick and Levine facing the Bryans at 8 p.m., and the Legends Event closes Sunday afternoon with the Bryans against Haas and Harrison at 1:30 p.m.

Qualifying for the ATP 250 main event runs Feb. 13 and 14. The singles and doubles main draws are played Feb. 15 to 21.

What the tournament brings to town

The Delray Beach Open is the first North American hard-court event of the ATP's outdoor season and one of eight ATP Tour stops in the United States. The tournament says it draws more than 60,000 fans to downtown Delray and is televised in more than 180 countries.

The 2026 field was the deepest in the event's history, with eight players ranked in the top 30, and it ended with an all-American final in which Sebastian Korda beat Tommy Paul. Past champions include Korda, Frances Tiafoe, Marin Cilic, Juan Martin del Potro, Kei Nishikori, Kevin Anderson, Jack Sock and Hubert Hurkacz, and the alumni list runs from Andre Agassi and Jimmy Connors to Lleyton Hewitt and Ivan Lendl.

Off the court, the Delray Beach Open Food & Wine Series returns for its eighth year, a 10-day program of parties, recognition days and clinics built around South Florida restaurants and spirits partners.
