Coral Gables starts two weeks of city-run Halloween events today, Saturday, Oct. 17, with a pumpkin patch in Ponce Circle Park, and the first week alone includes a bike tour of a pioneer cemetery, a sensory-friendly trick-or-treat, a first-year festival at the Coral Gables Museum and a night of carved pumpkins floating in the Country Club pool. Here is what is on from Oct. 17 to 24, with times, places and what each one costs.

Saturday, Oct. 17: Pumpkin Patch at Ponce Circle Park

Hundreds of pumpkins in every size fill Ponce Circle Park, 2810 Ponce de Leon Blvd., from 2 to 6 p.m. The afternoon includes live music, pumpkin decorating, face painting, a small harvest market, food and drinks for sale, and fall photo setups.

Cost: Coral Gables residents had presale access at $15, which covers one pumpkin and admission for up to four people. A limited number of general admission tickets are sold in person at the park on the day, first come, first served, while supplies last. Questions go to [email protected].

Sunday, Oct. 18: A bike ride through Pinewood Cemetery

Bike Walk Coral Gables leads a 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ride to Pinewood Cemetery, the oldest cemetery south of the Miami River. Many of Dade County's earliest pioneer settlers are buried there, among original headstones and unmarked graves set in pine rockland habitat. Costumes are encouraged. The group's event page lists no fee; details are posted there.

Oct. 18: A sensory inclusive Wizard of Oz

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile, is running its children's musical The Wizard of Oz on Saturdays at 2 p.m. through Oct. 31. The Oct. 18 performance at 2 p.m. is listed as the run's sensory inclusive performance. Tickets are sold through the Actors' Playhouse site.

On the Playhouse's main stage the same week, the Gothic musical Jekyll & Hyde continues through Nov. 1. The theater recommends it for ages 13 and up.

Friday, Oct. 23: Halloween Spooktacular for older adults

The city's Adult Activity Center, 2 Andalusia Ave., throws a Halloween afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. with food, drinks and music. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are claimed through the city's event page, limited to two per person, and space is limited. Call 305-461-6765 or email [email protected].

Saturday, Oct. 24: Kiddo-Ween at the Coral Gables Museum

The Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., holds its first Kiddo-Ween Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., organized with Kiddos Magazine. The day has trick-or-treating, character appearances, a pumpkin patch and photo stops.

Cost: free, with registration through the event's ticket page.

Saturday, Oct. 24: Gentle Trick-or-Treat at Ruth Bryan Owen Waterway Park

For children with sensory needs, the city runs a calm trick-or-treat from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ruth Bryan Owen Waterway Park, 3940 Granada Blvd. There is a photo station, a storybook walk, a maze, and art and sensory stations. The ground rules are posted ahead of time: nothing scary, no masked adults, a quiet area, a capped crowd size and no expectation that any child speak, act or dress a certain way.

Cost: free, but registration is required, one ticket per vehicle, and spots are limited. Contact [email protected] or 305-441-5650.

Saturday, Oct. 24: Pumpkin Float at the Country Club

From 6 to 8 p.m. at the Coral Gables Golf & Country Club, 997 N. Greenway Drive, each family carves a pumpkin, then watches the finished jack-o'-lanterns float in the club pool. Prizes go to the scariest, most creative and cutest carvings. Snacks and trick-or-treat stations are part of the evening, and costumes are encouraged.

Cost: one ticket covers a family of up to four and includes the pumpkin carving kit, the contest, the snacks and the float. Tickets are sold online through the city's event page, space is limited, there are no refunds, and carved pumpkins are not returned.

What comes next

The city's Halloween season continues through Saturday, Oct. 31, with a haunted house at the War Memorial Youth Center on Oct. 30, and on Halloween itself, Trick-or-Treat on the Mile along Miracle Mile from 3 to 6 p.m. and a Day of the Dead celebration in Ponce Circle Park from 4 to 9 p.m., presented by the Consulate of Mexico.
