The biggest thing on Doral's calendar this week is a Sunday card show: about 90 vendors selling Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, comics and sports cards on the basketball court at Doral Central Park's community center, free from 10 to 5 on Oct. 18. Around it, the City of Doral has stacked a week of small, cheap and mostly free things to do, from a Tuesday night Zumba class in Morgan Levy Park to a $15 Saturday art workshop at the Doral Cultural Arts Center. Here is what is worth leaving the house for between Oct. 12 and 19, and what each one asks of you.

Sunday, Oct. 18: Central Card Fest at Doral Central Park

The Central Card Fest fills the community center basketball court at 3005 NW 92nd Ave. with roughly 90 vendor tables. The mix covers the trading card games kids actually play right now (Pokémon, Disney's Lorcana, One Piece), plus comic books, sports cards and assorted collectibles. Entry is free and no ticket is needed at the door, though the city asks visitors to grab a free one on its Eventbrite page so it can count heads and plan the next show. Parking around the community center is free, and the main entrance is off 92nd Avenue.

Why go: a show this size usually means a drive to a convention hall and a cover charge. Here it is a city park on a Sunday, which makes it an easy outing for a parent with a binder-carrying 9-year-old, and a real hunting ground for adults chasing a specific sports card. Go early if you are hunting; the best singles tend to move in the first couple of hours. The park itself is worth the stroll afterward: the 78-acre campus recently became the first civic and recreational development in Doral to earn Gold certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition, scoring 161 points against the 105 needed.

Saturday, Oct. 17: a mixed media workshop with Perla S. González

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Doral Cultural Arts Center, 8363 NW 53rd St., award-winning artist Perla S. González, a member of the Miami Watercolor Society, walks a class through drawing, painting and collage. The theme is feet, movement and storytelling, and everyone leaves with an original mixed media piece. All materials are included in the $15 fee, all skill levels are welcome, and space is limited, so register ahead through the city's Eventbrite page. Park free in the City Hall garage at 8401 NW 53rd Ter.

Why go: two hours of instruction from a working watercolorist, with supplies, for the price of a lunch. It is the kind of class that books up, and it is a good low-stakes way to find out whether a teenager or a retired parent wants to take art more seriously.

Saturday, Oct. 17: Women's Health Saturday

Across town at the Doral Central Park community center, Women's Health Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It opens with a cardio dance class led by Monica Parada, moves into a talk on preventive kidney care from nephrologist Dr. Adriana Dejman, and closes with Sara Moreno guiding each participant through making a healthy dessert. Tickets are $5 on the city's Eventbrite page.

Why go: kidney disease is one of those conditions that rarely announces itself early, and a morning that pairs a workout with a specialist you can ask questions of, for five dollars, is a better deal than most people will get at a doctor's office.

Friday, Oct. 16: Silver Club Bingo Night at Legacy Park

The city's Silver Club Bingo Night runs from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Doral Legacy Park Event Hall, 11400 NW 82nd St. It is free, with several rounds of bingo and prizes. If you miss it, the next one is Friday, Nov. 6, same time.

Why go: two hours, no cost, and a room full of neighbors. If you have a parent or grandparent in Doral who could use a regular night out, this is an easy one to put on the calendar for both dates.

Tuesday, Oct. 13: free Zumba in Morgan Levy Park

Instructor Julie Richetelli leads a free, hourlong Zumba class at 7 p.m. in Morgan Levy Park, 5300 NW 102nd Ave. The city asks participants to RSVP through the link on its listing.

Why go: the evenings are finally cooling off, and an outdoor class after sunset is the most pleasant way to get a workout in on a weeknight in October.

Looking ahead: Doral's first Fall Festival, Oct. 24

Save next Saturday too. The city is throwing a brand new Fall Festival at Doral Central Park on Oct. 24, free and open to everyone with no registration needed to attend. Trick-or-treating through a field of decorated car trunks runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m., families vote for their favorite trunk, food vendors set up on site, and the night ends with a 7:30 movie under the stars, Minions & Monsters. Residents who want to decorate a trunk and hand out candy can sign up on the city's Eventbrite page; cars must be in place in front of the Doral Government Center by 4:30 p.m.

For this week, the order of operations is simple: book the art class now if you want a seat, put Thursday and Friday evenings on the family calendar, and plan Sunday around Doral Central Park, with the card show in the morning and a walk around the 78-acre park after.
