Trader Joe's has put a Boynton Beach store on its own map. The grocer's store locator now lists Boynton Beach as store No. 877, marked coming soon, at 334 N. Congress Ave., Unit B, in the 33426 ZIP code. No opening date, hours or phone number have been posted yet.

The listing sits alongside the company's five existing Palm Beach County stores on its Florida locations page, which makes Boynton Beach the sixth Trader Joe's address in the county and the first inside city limits.

Where the new store fits on the map

Today, Boynton Beach shoppers drive to one of the county's other locations. According to Trader Joe's locator, those are:

  • Delray Beach, store No. 771, at 1851 S. Federal Highway, Suite 500, phone 561-278-1493
  • Boca Raton, store No. 773, at 855 S. Federal Highway, phone 561-338-5031
  • Wellington, store No. 774, at 2877 South State Road 7, phone 561-656-1067
  • West Palm Beach, store No. 796, at 8111 S. Dixie Highway, phone 561-566-5402
  • Palm Beach Gardens, store No. 772, at 2560 PGA Blvd., phone 561-514-6770

The store numbers tell part of the story. Four of the county's existing locations carry consecutive numbers, 771 through 774, and West Palm Beach is No. 796. Boynton Beach, at No. 877, is the newest number on the county list by a wide margin, and the only Palm Beach County entry on the locator that still carries the coming-soon label.

Every one of those stores sits along Federal Highway, Dixie Highway, PGA Boulevard or State Road 7. The Boynton Beach address is on North Congress Avenue, the commercial corridor that runs through the center of the city, which puts a Trader Joe's within a short drive of neighborhoods west of Interstate 95 that currently head east to Federal Highway or south to Delray Beach for one.

Statewide, the company's Florida page lists stores in 27 cities, from Jacksonville and Tallahassee down to Miami, Coral Gables and Miami Beach. In Broward County, the closest options to the south are Coral Springs, Davie, Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines.

What the store page says so far

The Boynton Beach page uses the same description Trader Joe's gives its other locations. The company calls itself a neighborhood grocery store and points to items sold under its own label, such as Mandarin Orange Chicken and Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate, along with everyday staples: milk, eggs, meat, bakery items and fresh produce. The page also highlights the chain's cheese selection and fresh flowers.

What the page does not have yet is the practical detail. There are no store hours, no phone number and no grand opening date. On the company's locator, those fields fill in as a store gets closer to opening, and the coming-soon label is replaced once the doors open.

What residents can do now

The quickest way to follow the store is the Boynton Beach page on Trader Joe's own locator, which is the first place the company posts hours and a phone number. Bookmark store No. 877 or the Boynton Beach city page and check back.

Until the Congress Avenue store opens, the nearest locations for most Boynton Beach households remain the Delray Beach store at 1851 S. Federal Highway and the Wellington store at 2877 South State Road 7. Both are listed with phone numbers on the locator if you want to call ahead about a specific product.

Gold Coast Wave will report the opening date once Trader Joe's posts it.
