South Florida is getting Uniqlo, and it is getting two of them. The Japanese clothing brand's store locator now lists a large-format Uniqlo at Aventura Mall opening Thursday, November 5, followed a week later by a second store at 530 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach on Thursday, November 12.

The closest Uniqlo is about to stop being in Orlando

Until now, a South Florida shopper who wanted to try on Uniqlo in person had two choices: order online and hope the size was right, or drive up the turnpike. Every Uniqlo in Florida on the company's locator today sits in the Orlando area, at The Florida Mall, at Disney Springs and, from October 23, at Waterford Lakes. The two November openings change that, and the bigger one lands in northeast Miami-Dade, within easy reach of Hallandale Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, North Miami and Hollywood.

Aventura gets the big one

The Aventura store is the headline. Uniqlo's locator classifies it as a large-scale store, the company's bigger format, and lists all four of its departments: women, men, kids and baby. It occupies two spaces at Aventura Mall, numbers 1655 and 3206, at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, and the mall's own directory places it on the Upper Level and marks it coming soon.

It is also the only one of the two new stores flagged for Uniqlo's in-store services. The locator lists UTme! and a RE.UNIQLO Studio at Aventura, neither of which appears on the Lincoln Road listing. Posted weekday hours run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The timing lines up with a busy year at the mall. Aventura Mall's coming-soon list currently includes Celine, On, Rimowa, Suitsupply, Stuart Weitzman and Wilson, alongside Uniqlo, so the Upper Level will look different by the holidays.

Lincoln Road gets a walk-in store

The Miami Beach store at 530 Lincoln Road follows on November 12. The locator lists it as a standard store carrying women's and men's clothing, a better fit for the pedestrian mall's foot traffic than a full family floor. For anyone already strolling Lincoln Road, it becomes the easy stop for a forgotten layer on a breezy winter night.

Three Florida openings in three weeks

The South Florida pair is part of a larger Florida push. Uniqlo's locator also shows a new store at Waterford Lakes in east Orlando opening Friday, October 23. Put the dates together and the company is opening three Florida stores in about three weeks, joining the two Uniqlo shops already open in the Orlando area. Of the three, Aventura is the only one listed as a large-scale store, which makes the South Florida location the biggest of the new batch.

Why this matters here

Uniqlo built its following on simple, everyday basics at everyday prices, and on layering pieces. In a place where a cold front means a cool evening and an office means air conditioning set to arctic, light layers are exactly what South Floridians end up buying online anyway. Having a fitting room within reach means trying sizes before buying, and returning in person instead of by mail.

It also means South Florida stops being a gap on the brand's Florida map. Two stores a week apart, one in one of the region's best-known malls and one on its best-known pedestrian street, is a clear sign the company sees this market as worth the investment, and the larger Aventura format suggests it expects families, not just tourists.
