Uniqlo opens its Aventura Mall store on Thursday, Nov. 5, and the first four days come with giveaways for the people at the front of the line. The Japanese clothing brand is taking two spaces in the mall at 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, numbers 1655 and 3206, and its own opening page bills the store as the arrival of its LifeWear line in South Florida.

The doors open at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Uniqlo says shoppers may start lining up as early as 6 a.m., with stanchions set up outside the store, and that the line begins moving inside at 10 a.m. (11 a.m. on Sunday, when the mall opens later).

What the first 500 get

From Thursday, Nov. 5, through Sunday, Nov. 8, the store is running four giveaways, each with its own limit:

  • A knot bag of Uniqlo goods for the first 500 customers in line each day, one per person per day.
  • A stainless steel water bottle with an in-store purchase of $99 or more, limited to the first 500 customers each day.
  • A breakfast gift card to Diggin, the cookie shop that recently opened in Aventura Mall, for the first 500 customers who make any purchase.
  • An afternoon gift card to Sakura Ice Cream for Uniqlo app members, starting at 3 p.m., limited to the first 200 app customers each day.

The Fushu Daiko drummers will give traditional Japanese taiko performances in the store Thursday through Saturday at 9:45 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The store will also sell the new Disney x Formula 1 graphic T-shirt collection before it reaches other Uniqlo stores on Nov. 9.

Opening prices, through Nov. 11

A set of opening prices runs at the Aventura store only, from Nov. 5 to Nov. 11. Among them: the Premium Linen Shirt at $39.90 instead of $49.90, the Cashmere Sweater at $79.90 instead of $99.90, the men's Fleece Full-Zip Jacket at $39.90 instead of $49.90, the HEATTECH Ultra Warm T-Shirt at $29.90 instead of $34.90 and the women's AIRism Cotton T-Shirt at $14.90 instead of $19.90. The men's 13-inch jorts drop to $29.90, the Round Mini Shoulder Bag to $19.90, and the unisex Sweat Oversized Pullover and Wide Sweatpants to $39.90 each.

Shirts printed for Miami, and repairs on site

Two services set this store apart from a plain shop floor. The UTme! studio prints custom T-shirts and is carrying a set of limited designs made for Aventura Mall, featuring artwork by Dani Klaric, Bobbie Goods and Jarritos, while supplies last. The RE.UNIQLO Studio does embroidery and repairs, with Florida designs by Dani Klaric and Jarritos among the embroidery options, so a pair of jeans with a hole in it can be mended rather than replaced.

The store will also offer alterations from opening day, according to Uniqlo's own answers to shoppers' questions. That covers the most common request at a clothing store, hemming pants.

A store that has been working the neighborhood

Ahead of the opening, Uniqlo says it has partnered with the Miami-Dade Public Library to deliver resources to new patrons, and that its Miami team joined Clean Beach Miami for a beach cleanup on South Beach. Both are listed on the brand's Aventura opening page.

Uniqlo's line is built on everyday basics with their own names: AIRism, the light fabric made for heat, and HEATTECH, the warm layer for cold weather. Both lines are on the opening price list.

The Aventura store is on the mall's upper level, according to the Aventura Mall directory, which still marks the store as coming soon ahead of Thursday.
