The family behind Zucca, the Italian dining room that has fed Coral Gables since 2017, has built something much bigger in the same city. Zuccaly, an Italian food hall from Da Silva Hospitality, is up and running inside The Plaza Coral Gables on Palermo Avenue, with six separate kitchens, a market you can shop and a full bar under one roof.
Six kitchens, one room
The idea is simple enough to explain to a hungry teenager: walk in, pick a counter, and stop arguing about where to eat. Each station has its own specialty. The Pasta and Risotto hall handles the comfort food, with rigatoni done the house way, bucatini cacio e pepe, a Bolognese lasagna and a saffron risotto alla Milanese. LaBiga is the pizza counter, and its showpiece is a squid ink pie finished with caviar alongside a straightforward Margherita for anyone who does not want to think about it.
The Grill and Fish hall is where the heavier plates live: a bone-in ribeye in the Italian costata style, grilled branzino, and, because somebody at the table always wants one, a cheeseburger. Il Giardino is the lighter side of the menu, built on salads like farro and lentils with marinated salmon and avocado, quinoa with beets and watercress, a seafood salad over Sardinian fregola, and baby kale with roasted chicken in a peanut and honey dressing. Dolci and Gelato closes the loop with desserts and scoops you can eat there or carry out onto the plaza.
Before any of that, there is a starters list that reads like a classic trattoria: a New York style focaccia with rosemary and sea salt, a stuffed focaccia with ham, robiola cheese and white truffle oil, beef carpaccio with arugula and shaved parmesan, a burrata caprese, tuna tartare, and vitello tonnato, the cold sliced veal with tuna sauce that Italians eat in summer and Miamians can eat all year.
The market is the sleeper
The part of Zuccaly most likely to change a weeknight is Portavia, its gastro market. It sells what the kitchens make, packed to take home: fresh lasagna, pasta sauces, antipasti, salads, and pantry staples from Italy. The pitch is aimed squarely at the person who has six people coming over at eight and no plan at six. Grab a tray of lasagna and a few containers of antipasti on the way home, and the dinner party is mostly done.
For now, Zuccaly does takeout as pickup only. The restaurant says it is working on delivery partners, so if you live in the Gables and want it brought to you, that is coming but not here yet.
The bar, and the aperitivo hour
The Bar leans on Italy's early evening ritual: classic cocktails, Italian wines, craft beers and a few house creations. On weekdays in the late afternoon there is an aperitivo hour with discounted cocktails. Zuccaly's own pages list the exact window and the deal two different ways, which is normal for a place still finding its rhythm, so check with the bar before you plan your Tuesday around it.
Hours run from noon into the late evening, seven days a week. Reservations go through OpenTable, and the team takes group bookings for birthdays, office dinners and the like, which is useful in a neighborhood that runs on lunch meetings and law firm celebrations.
Who is behind it
Da Silva Hospitality is led by its founder and chief executive, Erasmo da Silva. Zucca, the group's flagship, opened in Coral Gables in 2017 and built its reputation on refined Italian cooking and a serious wine program. In 2025 the group brought back Hereford Grill, the steakhouse, and Zuccaly is its 2026 project. The through line is a family that has spent nearly a decade cooking Italian food for the same city, now trying a format that lets a table of four eat four different dinners.
For anyone who lives or works around The Plaza, that is the appeal: one place to walk to at lunch, grab something quick or settle in for two hours, and come back on Friday for something else entirely.
How to do it
Go at lunch on a weekday if you want to wander the stations without a line, and go in a group if you want to understand the point of the place. Order from two or three counters, share everything, finish at the gelato case, and pick up a lasagna from the market on your way out for later in the week. If you already love Zucca, think of this as the same kitchen in a much more casual mood.
Zuccaly is at The Plaza Coral Gables, 111 Palermo Avenue. Menus, hours and reservations are on its website.
