Travelers in Broward County will be able to fly straight to Mexico City every day starting Jan. 14, 2027. Aeromexico and its partner Delta Air Lines announced on Oct. 26 that Aeromexico will open a daily nonstop between Mexico City International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and that it will be the only airline flying that pair.
The Fort Lauderdale flight is one of three new Mexico City routes announced together. The others go to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, starting Jan. 11, and to Portland International in Oregon, starting Jan. 21 from Mexico and Jan. 22 from Portland. Aeromexico will be the only carrier offering a nonstop between Mexico City and each of the three cities.
The schedule
The airline's published timetable, in local times and subject to change:
- Mexico City to Fort Lauderdale: departs 9:35 a.m., arrives 2:05 p.m.
- Fort Lauderdale to Mexico City: departs 3:35 p.m., arrives 6:20 p.m.
The route runs once a day in each direction. Tickets are already on sale through Aeromexico's and Delta's own websites and booking channels.
The plane
Aeromexico will fly the route with a Boeing 737 MAX 8 configured for 166 passengers: 16 seats in Clase Premier, its business cabin, 18 in AM Plus, its extra-legroom section, and 132 in the main economy cabin. The airline says the aircraft carries an extensive onboard entertainment system.
Why Fort Lauderdale
In its announcement, Aeromexico pointed to the city's beaches, its network of canals and year-round warm weather as draws for travelers from Mexico. It also highlighted the airport's proximity to Port Everglades, which lets travelers add a few days in South Florida before or after a cruise.
The new routes come out of the joint cooperation agreement between Aeromexico and Delta, which is designed to give customers more connections and more schedule options across both airlines. The two carriers have been partners in the SkyTeam alliance for 21 years. With the three additions, the partnership will connect Mexico City to 27 destinations in the United States.
Booking
The first flight from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International to Mexico City leaves on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2027, at 3:35 p.m. Fares and seat selection are on aeromexico.com and delta.com.
