American Airlines begins daily nonstop service between Miami International Airport and Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, on Sunday, Nov. 1. The airline announced the route in June as the first U.S. carrier to commit to restarting flights to Haiti, and it is one of two new Miami routes that take American to 100 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The route

The flight runs once a day in each direction between MIA and Cap-Haïtien (airport code CAP) on Haiti's north coast. American is flying the route with a Boeing 737 that has a premium cabin and free high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T.

According to the airline, Haiti was the Caribbean country with the most travel demand and no U.S. airline serving it. South Florida is home to the largest Haitian-American population in the country, which is a large part of the case for running the flight from Miami. Travelers starting in New York and Orlando can connect through MIA to reach Cap-Haïtien on the same trip.

Number 100

Cap-Haïtien is the second of the two Miami launches American announced on June 12. The first, a daily flight to Maracaibo, Venezuela, began July 14 on an Embraer 175 and is the only nonstop service between the U.S. and that city. With the two together, American's network in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America reached its 99th and 100th destinations, in the airline's centennial year.

American says its winter network in the region is close to 50 percent larger than that of the next U.S. airline, and that Miami, its gateway to the region, runs more than 410 departures on peak days.

More winter flying from MIA

The same announcement added capacity on several Miami routes for the season:

  • Rio de Janeiro: two daily flights for the full winter.
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico: up to eight daily flights.
  • St. Thomas: up to four daily flights.
  • Tortola, British Virgin Islands: up to six daily flights.
  • Antigua: two daily flights, which began Oct. 5.
  • Exuma, Bahamas: three daily flights from Dec. 17, 2026 to April 5, 2027.
  • St. Kitts: two daily flights over the same Dec. 17 to April 5 window.

American also has a new Flagship lounge and an upgraded Concourse D on the way at MIA, part of a $1 billion investment the airline is making in Miami.

Booking and travel

Cap-Haïtien flights are on sale at aa.com and through the American Airlines app. Before booking, check the U.S. State Department's current travel guidance for Haiti and the entry requirements for your passport, and confirm schedules with the airline, since times can change by season.
