Apotheke, the cocktail bar group that started on Doyers Street in New York's Chinatown, is pouring in Miami Beach. Apotheke South Beach is open at 921 Washington Ave., its first location outside New York and Los Angeles.
The bar sits just off Washington Avenue in South Beach's Art Deco district and runs on a short schedule: Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. It is 21 and over.
What it is
Apotheke built its name on the idea of the bar as an apothecary. Drinks are mixed with fresh herbs, organic botanicals and tinctures made in house, and the menu is a mix of the bar's own signature cocktails and rotating classics. The original Chinatown bar at 9 Doyers St. also runs Apotheke Academy, a set of in-person cocktail classes.
The South Beach room follows the same look. The bar describes it as an intimate lounge with vintage apothecary interiors, and the centerpiece is a bar top of Rosa Aurora marble, a pink-veined Portuguese stone. Live music and DJ sets are part of the program on the nights it is open.
The family it joins
Apotheke now has four rooms: the Chinatown original, Apotheke NoMad in Manhattan, Apotheke Los Angeles and the new South Beach bar.
Before you go
The bar asks for sophisticated attire and notes that entrance is at the host's discretion. Reservations are taken through the Apotheke website. Questions go to [email protected] or (305) 938-9937, and the bar posts updates on Instagram at @ApothekeSouthBeach.
