A traveling National Geographic exhibition about Jane Goodall has set up inside a TV station on South Congress Avenue. Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall is on view at the South Florida PBS studios in Boynton Beach through Sunday, Jan. 24, 2027.
The exhibition was organized by the National Geographic Society in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, and it follows her from a young researcher in Tanzania to a global conservation figure. South Florida PBS opened it to visitors on Oct. 23 and estimates a visit takes about 75 minutes. It is meant for all ages.
What is inside
The show is built as a walk-through rather than a wall of panels. It opens with an immersive projection of Gombe Stream National Park, the Tanzanian forest where Goodall began studying chimpanzees. From there, visitors move through interactive stations about chimpanzee behavior and communication.
One room holds a recreation of Goodall's field tent, set up so visitors can imagine themselves as scientists taking notes in a field journal. A life-size, hologram-like projection of Goodall shares memories and lessons from her life, and later sections cover how her research changed scientific understanding of chimpanzees and the conservation work that followed. The final section focuses on what visitors can do themselves.
Hours
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Mondays, so today is not the day to go. Discover The Palm Beaches, the county's tourism office, also lists the run on its events calendar.
