The first Sunday of the month means Coco Market at Old School Square, and November's falls on Nov. 1. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Delray Beach Amphitheatre, 51 N. Swinton Ave., the free market brings together yoga and movement classes, sound baths, meditation, workshops, live music, pop-up food and dozens of local vendors. There is no admission charge and nothing to buy to take part.
How it started
Coco Market began in Delray Beach in January 2022 as a monthly Sunday meeting place for small businesses, healers, makers and neighbors. Its founder and producer, Corey Heyman, is a yoga teacher who built it around one idea: wellness should be open to anyone, not only those who can pay for it.
The market says it has now held more than 60 markets and draws more than 1,000 people to each one. Every vendor is a local, independent business, and the organizers keep it free for all ages.
What a market day includes
The day is organized around a few kinds of activity. There are free yoga, dance and sound sessions for every level. There are healing offerings such as bodywork, reiki and sound baths. There are workshops, games and dance for kids and adults. And there are the vendors, all local, selling goods and food.
The Downtown Delray Beach Development Authority lists the market as a family-friendly event with yoga, meditation, sound baths, healing practices, workshops, local vendors and pop-up food. The organizers' advice for a first visit is simple: bring a friend and a mat.
Two homes now
Coco Market has grown beyond Delray. Alongside its first-Sunday market at Old School Square, it holds a second monthly market on third Sundays from October through January at Carlin Park's Seabreeze Amphitheater in Jupiter, steps from the ocean. It also runs a smaller garden series, Coco Minis, at SmartyPlants.
The market partners with Coco Wellness Collective, a Palm Beach County 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to make wellness accessible and connects people with support between market days.
After November
The next Delray Beach market after Nov. 1 is Sunday, Dec. 6, also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. From June through September the Delray hours shorten to 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
