Flamingo Gardens, the botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary on Flamingo Road in Davie, opens its after-dark holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 21. Hoffman's Chocolates Winter Wonderland runs nightly through Dec. 30, and the garden says this year's light displays and themed areas are all new.
The garden dates to 1927. It sits on 60 acres west of Fort Lauderdale and operates as a nonprofit focused on South Florida plants, wildlife and the Everglades.
What is in it
- The lights: New holiday light displays and themed experiences through the gardens.
- The tree: A 35-foot Christmas tree, plus a holiday tree lot.
- Santa's Village: Santa is there nightly through Dec. 23, with storytime with Mrs. Claus and holiday crafts.
- Music: Live holiday music every night on the Sounds of the Season Stage and the Wray Lawn.
- Food and treats: A Hoffman's Chocolates pop-up shop, an ice cream truck, s'mores kits, and food from the Flamingo Pond Cafe and a food truck. Outside food and drink are not allowed.
The garden's trams do not run after hours, so the evening is on foot.
Hours and tickets
Winter Wonderland is open nightly from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., with last admission at 8:30. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Tickets are $24 for ages 12 and up, $17 for ages 3 to 11, and free for children 2 and under. Members get 25 percent off adult and child tickets, online with a member number or at the gift shop. The event is ticketed separately from daytime admission and membership, guest passes are not valid, and no other discounts apply.
