An indoor golf club whose floor tilts under your feet opens in Boca Raton this weekend. Golf Envy, a membership club built around golf simulators, holds the grand opening of its first Florida location on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 6531 Park of Commerce Blvd., Suite 155, in Boca Raton's Park of Commerce.

A floor that moves

The bays run on GOLFZON simulator technology. The part that sets them apart is a moving floorplate that tilts to match the terrain of the hole being played, so a golfer stands on a real uphill, downhill or sidehill lie rather than a flat mat. Every shot is tracked for spin, carry, distance and dispersion, and the club's page adds loft angle and flight path to the data members can review.

Members can play hundreds of real courses on the screen. The Boca Raton club lists Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Old Course at St. Andrews and the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island among them, and the company has recently added Innis Arden Golf Club, Ol' Colony Golf Complex and Cowboys Golf Club.

Open 24 hours, by appointment

Golf Envy is a private, membership-based club rather than a walk-in range. Members book tee times, can play at any hour of the day or night, and can bring groups of up to six. The club rents lockers on site, and new members get an orientation with the site manager. It is enrolling Founding Members ahead of the opening.

The company started in Irvine, California, founded by Ryan Wines and Cole Arranaga, and runs its clubs as franchises across the United States. Boca Raton is its first in Florida.

Saturday's grand opening

The opening is open to the public and is the first chance to try the bays without a membership:

  • Free demos on the GOLFZON simulators
  • A ribbon cutting
  • Pizza from How Ya Dough'n Pizza
  • Longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests
  • Raffle prizes

To RSVP and book a demo slot, the company asks guests to call or text 561-240-4110.
