Homeowners in Hallandale Beach's redevelopment district can get up to $10,000 toward storm shutters or impact windows this year. The Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is taking applications for fiscal year 2026-27, and the last day to submit is June 30, 2027, as long as the money lasts.
The agency pays the contractor directly. If a job costs more than $10,000, the homeowner covers the difference.
Who qualifies
The CRA Storm Shutter and Impact Window Program is for owner-occupied homes inside the Community Redevelopment Agency district. Trailer parks are excluded. The agency lists these requirements:
- Household income up to 80 percent of the Broward County area median income.
- Applicants with assets above $60,000 may not qualify.
- The home has to be the owner's residence.
There is also a second round for older homeowners. Residents 60 and over whose property is homesteaded and whose income is at or below 50 percent of the Broward County median can receive up to $7,000 more.
How applying works
Applications are handled by appointment only, with no walk-ins, and the agency processes them in the order they are completed. The CRA's residential programs page lists the current fiscal year as open, with June 30, 2027 as the final submission date, subject to funding. Contact details and the appointment line are on the HBCRA contact page.
Outside the district
Hallandale Beach residents who live outside the redevelopment district have a separate option. The City-Wide Hurricane Shutter and Impact Glass Program has reopened on a first-come, first-served basis, and its guidelines are posted as a program document on the CRA site.
The rest of this year's list
The shutter program is one of several the agency is running in 2026-27. The same residential programs page lists a paint program that covers up to $3,000 on a single-family home (the agency pays 90 percent), a senior mini-grant for exterior and safety repairs for residents 60 and over, a rent stabilization program that pays up to $600 a month toward a rent increase for up to 12 months, and the first-time homebuyer program, which offers up to $100,000 in down payment help inside the district.
Each program has its own rules and application. The full list, with a document for each one, is at cohbcra.org/programs/residential-programs. Funding is limited, and applications are handled in the order they are completed.
