Hallandale Beach is filling the weekend of November 21 and 22 at its two beach parks, starting with four free fitness classes on Saturday morning at North City Beach Park and ending with a free live music afternoon on Sunday at South City Beach Park.

Wellness Saturday at North City Beach Park

The Saturday classes are part of Wellness Saturday: Move by the Beach, which the city describes as a free monthly series of movement and mindfulness classes held in the indoor space at Tower and Cove in North City Beach Park, 2801 E Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009. Each class lasts an hour, all levels are welcome, and registration is required.

The November 21 lineup, as posted on the city calendar, follows a gratitude theme:

7 a.m.: Sunrise Yoga: Gratitude in Motion, led by Jacqueline Fiol.

8:15 a.m.: Bands and Glutes: Strong and Thankful Workout, led by Liana Veda.

9:30 a.m.: Mat Pilates: The Gratitude Edit, led by Alex Cohen.

10:45 a.m.: XCO Dance Fitness: Shake It Out, led by Betsy Dopico.

Each class has its own free reservation through Eventbrite, linked from the city's event listings. The Eventbrite listings name Mind Body Social as the organizer. Because each class is booked separately, anyone planning to stay for more than one should reserve a spot in each.

Beach and Groove on Sunday

On Sunday, November 22, the city's Beach and Groove concert series returns to South City Beach Park, 1870 S Ocean Dr, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009. The show runs from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and features boogie woogie music. Admission is free, and the city invites guests to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Beach and Groove is held on one Sunday afternoon each month. After November, the city's schedule lists one more date this year, December 20.

Also This Month

Earlier in November, the city holds its annual Veterans Day Salute on Wednesday, November 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3rd St, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009, followed by breakfast. Everyone is welcome, and groups or individuals who want to take part can call 954-457-1452 ahead of time.

Two days after the concert, on Tuesday, November 24, the Mobile School Pantry's mobile market, called MAX, parks at Peter Bluesten Park, 501 SE 1st Ave, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009, from 5 to 8 p.m. with fresh produce and pantry staples at low prices. The city says money spent there goes back into the pantry's program providing free food to Broward children and families. The market returns on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Getting to the Beach

The city offers two ways to skip beach parking for the Sunday concert. Guests can park at Gulfstream Park Village behind the Pegasus and ride a free Cloud Bus shuttle to the show. According to the event listing, buses run from one hour before the start until 30 minutes after it ends. The city also posts an Uber code worth $10 off each way at cohb.org/GrooveUber.

Plan Your Weekend

Reserve Saturday class spots through the links on each city calendar listing, since registration is required and the classes are held indoors. For Sunday, arrive before 3 p.m. to claim space on the sand, or catch the shuttle starting around 2 p.m. Questions can go to Hallandale Beach City Hall at 954-457-1489.
