JetBlue now flies nonstop from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Columbus, Ohio, and to Indianapolis, once a day in each direction. The first departures left FLL on Monday, Nov. 2, and the return flights from both Midwest cities began the next morning, Nov. 3.

Indianapolis is a new city for JetBlue altogether. Columbus is a return: the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, which runs John Glenn Columbus International Airport, says JetBlue last served the airport in 2008, which makes this its first Columbus flight in roughly 18 years.

The schedule

Both routes run on the same pattern, with an evening departure from Fort Lauderdale and an early-morning flight back, so a South Florida traveler can leave after work and a Midwest visitor can land in Broward before 9 a.m. JetBlue lists these times, all local and subject to change:

  • Fort Lauderdale to Indianapolis, flight 232: leaves FLL at 7 p.m., arrives at 9:39 p.m.
  • Indianapolis to Fort Lauderdale, flight 235: leaves at 6 a.m., arrives at FLL at 8:45 a.m.
  • Fort Lauderdale to Columbus, flight 1508: leaves FLL at 7 p.m., arrives at 9:45 p.m.
  • Columbus to Fort Lauderdale, flight 1507: leaves at 6 a.m., arrives at FLL at 8:44 a.m.

The plane and the cabin

Both routes use the Airbus A320. In the main cabin, JetBlue includes free Wi-Fi, seatback live television, and complimentary snacks and drinks. The EvenMore seats add extra legroom, early boarding, dedicated overhead bin space and, where an airport offers it, priority security.

What the launch fares looked like

To open the routes, JetBlue offered one-way fares from $59 in the main cabin and $138 in EvenMore, with a booking deadline of Nov. 3. That sale has ended, but its terms show where the cheapest seats tend to sit on these routes: travel between Jan. 6 and March 10, 2027 for Indianapolis and Jan. 6 to March 17 for Columbus, no Friday or Saturday flights, and blackout dates of Jan. 14 to 18 and Feb. 11 to 23. Current fares are on jetblue.com.

Part of JetBlue's largest Fort Lauderdale winter

The two Midwest routes are among several cities JetBlue has added from FLL this year. The airline says that this winter it expects to operate more than 150 daily departures from Fort Lauderdale to 61 nonstop destinations, its largest schedule ever at the airport.

For travelers starting in Columbus, the Columbus airport authority framed the new route as a way to connect through Fort Lauderdale to JetBlue's Caribbean and Latin American network, naming Cancun, San Juan, Nassau, Cali, Cartagena and Guatemala City among the cities that become a single connection away. The same works in reverse for Broward residents with family or business in central Ohio and Indiana, who previously had to change planes or drive to another airport for a JetBlue flight.

Booking and getting to FLL

Both routes are bookable now on jetblue.com, where the fare calendar shows each day's lowest price. The westbound flights leave Fort Lauderdale every evening at 7, and the eastbound flights land at FLL before 9 every morning.
