Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman return to a Key Biscayne screen on Monday, November 16, when the KB Cinema Club shows Casablanca at the Paradise Cinema inside Village Hall. That screening caps a 10-day run of island happenings posted on the Village of Key Biscayne calendar, from a free filmmaking workshop for teens this Saturday to a Veterans Day ceremony on the Village Green and a dodgeball night that tips off at 10 p.m.

Here is what is on the schedule between Saturday, November 7, and Monday, November 16, plus one upgrade at the Community Center worth knowing about before the month is out.

Saturday, November 7: Young filmmakers and a free baseball clinic

The Key Biscayne Film Festival is running a free youth filmmaking workshop from 10 a.m. to noon in the Lighthouse Room at the Key Biscayne Community Center. It is open to middle and high school students, who will work alongside experienced filmmakers, and participants can earn 25 community service hours. The festival asks families to RSVP at kbfilmfestival.org/workshop.

Across the island the same morning, the Village baseball program holds the first of two free clinics from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KB-K8 field. The second clinic is Saturday, November 14, at the same time. Both lead into the 2026 to 27 season for players ages 5 to 14, which runs November 17, 2026, to February 20, 2027, with evaluations on November 17 and 19. Resident fees are $225 for T-ball (ages 5 and 6) and $300 for Coach Pitch, Mustang and Bronco. Nonresidents age 11 and older can join the Mustang and Bronco divisions for $390.

Wednesday, November 11: Veterans Day on the Village Green

Richard L. Cromartie American Legion Post 374 hosts the island's Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. at the flagpole on the Village Green, the site of the Veterans Memorial. The ceremony is free and open to everyone. The Community Center keeps holiday hours that day, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Thursday, November 12: Lunch with an author

The Community Center's Lunch with an Author series welcomes Dr. Batia Cohen at noon in the Island Room. Cohen, who holds a doctorate in Mesoamerican studies from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and spent more than 30 years teaching art history, will talk about Shura, her 2026 historical novel based on the true story of a Jewish woman who survived the Holocaust. Lunch is free for Community Center members and $10 for nonmembers. Reserve a seat at the front desk.

Friday, November 13: Dodgeball after dark

Teens ages 13 to 18 can play a late-night round of dodgeball at the Community Center starting at 10 p.m. Friday, with pizza on the house. Entry is free for members and $7 for nonmembers, and players must sign up at the front desk by Thursday, November 12.

Monday, November 16: Casablanca, then wine and cheese

The KB Cinema Club's November pick is the 1942 classic starring Bogart, Bergman, Paul Henreid and Claude Rains. The film starts at 6 p.m. sharp in the Paradise Cinema, the Village Council chamber at Village Hall, and the club asks moviegoers to register in advance through the form linked on the Village calendar. After the credits, a reception at Vinya Wine Bar offers unlimited wine and cheese for $35 per person, open only to those who attended the screening.

Coming soon: Pickleball lines and a new gym floor

The same night as the Casablanca screening, the Community Center gymnasium closes for a floor project that runs into January 2027. Crews will replace damaged flooring, resurface the basketball court and paint permanent lines for four pickleball courts, giving the island's pickleball players a dedicated layout when the gym reopens. Gymnastics, pickleball, open gym and other programs in the gym pause during the work, and the Village expects to welcome players back to the refreshed gym in January.
