La Pecora Bianca, the Italian restaurant group with eight locations across Manhattan, has put its Coral Gables restaurant on its own website, complete with a menu, nightly hours and a reservation book. The address is 360 San Lorenzo Avenue, Suite 1430, and it is the only La Pecora Bianca the company lists outside New York City.
The group's Manhattan restaurants are in NoMad, Midtown, SoHo, Bryant Park, the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side, the Theater District and Lincoln Square. Coral Gables is the ninth location on that list and the first in Florida.
The pasta
The menu says every pasta is made in house, with house-made gluten-free pasta available on request, and burrata can be added to any pasta for $6. The pasta list runs to ten dishes. Spaghetti pomodoro with heirloom cherry tomatoes and mezze maniche cacio e pepe are $25 each. Rigatoni in vodka sauce with stracciatella, garganelli with roasted wild mushrooms and arugula pesto, and fusilli gigante with pesto genovese are $27. Tagliatelle bolognese, campanelle al limone with roasted shrimp, gramigna with house-made sausage and broccolini, and ravioli carbonara with egg yolk, ricotta and pancetta are $28. Linguine vongole with clams, white wine and garlic is $29.
Pizza, mains and dishes to share
Five pizzas range from a $23 margherita to a $29 truffle pie with mascarpone, parmesan and black truffle. Mains include branzino with spinach and sauce vierge ($36), Faroe Islands salmon with butternut squash purée ($37), chicken paillard or Milanese ($29), pork piccata ($32), a New York strip with salsa verde ($52), filet mignon with peppercorn sauce ($58) and the LPB burger with American cheese and crispy onions ($26).
Two dishes are listed for sharing: lobster spaghetti fra diavolo, built on a whole roasted 2-pound lobster with toasted garlic and Calabrian chili ($90), and a chicken parmesan served with vodka-sauce rigatoni ($36). Desserts include tiramisu for two ($19), olive oil cake ($13), a chocolate hazelnut budino ($13) and a soft serve sundae with caramel, peanuts and a cherry ($15).
The bar
The drinks menu opens with a spritz bar (Aperol, Portofino, Napoli and Capri spritzes, $17 to $18) and a Negroni bar, including a mezcal version and a sbagliato called Peachy Keen. Two zero-proof cocktails are $14. The wine list leans on Piedmont and Tuscany: Barolo starts at $28 for a glass of Damilano's Lecinquevigne and climbs through bottles from Vietti, Paolo Scavino, Gaja and Bruno Giacosa, while the Tuscan pages run from a $72 Chianti Classico to Antinori's Tignanello at $425 and Solaia at $900. The menu also lists a happy hour.
