A preventive health clinic that has scanned more than 100,000 people in Sweden and the United Kingdom is coming to Aventura. Aventura Mall lists Neko Health as coming soon, and the company said in September that a Miami clinic would follow its first American location in New York.
Neko Health was founded by Daniel Ek, the co-founder of Spotify, and Hjalmar Nilsonne, the company's CEO. It opened its first clinic in Stockholm in 2023 and its first U.S. clinic on Sept. 24, at 300 Lafayette Street in SoHo, after more than 25,000 New Yorkers joined the waitlist. In its announcement of that opening, the company named a Miami clinic among the next stops, with more New York locations and clinics in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco also planned.
What the scan is
The Neko Health Scan is a one-hour visit. According to the company, about 30 minutes is spent on the scan itself and another 30 with a clinician who goes over the results before you leave. The visit includes:
- A 360-degree skin exam that captures about 6,000 images with visual and thermal cameras, mapping visible moles.
- A cardiovascular assessment.
- A detailed body composition analysis.
- An on-site blood draw testing more than 50 biomarkers, with results the same visit.
The company says the scan uses no radiation, and that it designed and built its own scanning devices and software. Results live in the Neko Health app on iOS and Android, which keeps a history of scans and can pull daily data from wearables such as Oura or Whoop through Apple Health.
What it costs
The scan costs $499 in the United States, and Neko accepts HSA and FSA payments. The company says its in-house cardiologists and dermatologists follow up on results at no extra charge. In New York, members who need more care are referred to outside physicians and health systems, or to their own doctors. Neko has not yet said which South Florida providers it will refer to.
The company also reports that 75 percent of members book and prepay for a second scan at the end of their first, which is how it frames the visit: a baseline that gets repeated and compared over time rather than a one-off test.
Who is behind it
Neko raised a $700 million Series C led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with investors including Maria Sharapova, Zoe Saldaña, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, Danny Meyer and Thierry Henry. Aventura Mall, where the clinic will open, also lists Revolve's first Florida store among its recent arrivals.
What to know now
Neither Neko nor the mall has posted an opening date or the clinic's exact spot in the mall. Neko takes bookings through a waitlist at nekohealth.com, and Aventura Mall's listing for the clinic is at aventuramall.com.
