Palm Beach Gardens is turning its public pool into a place to lie still again. The city's Floating Sound Bath returns on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Palm Beach Gardens Aquatic Complex, 4420 Burns Road, with guests floating on mattresses in the water while a sound bath plays around them. Gates open at 4:45 p.m., and the session starts promptly at 5:30.
The sound comes from Tree Om Sound Bath, playing quartz crystal singing bowls, gongs, crystal pyramids, Native American flutes and other instruments. The city provides the floating mattresses.
Two ways to take part
There are two kinds of tickets, and the city asks buyers to pick the right one at checkout.
Floating tickets put you on a mattress in the pool. They cost $60 for Palm Beach Gardens residents and $75 for non-residents.
Deck tickets are for anyone who would rather stay dry. You bring your own yoga mat and lie on the pool deck, within earshot of the same instruments. Deck tickets are $50 for residents and $63 for non-residents.
The event is for ages 14 and up. Spots are limited, and tickets are sold through the city's Floating Sound Bath page.
What to bring
The city suggests a towel, a blanket and an eye mask for comfort, along with a yoga mat for deck guests. Plan on arriving between 4:45 and 5:30, since the session begins on time.
More on the city's calendar
The sound bath is one of several wellness events on the Palm Beach Gardens recreation calendar this fall. A few days later, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the city holds its annual Veterans Salute Celebration at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Plaza Amphitheater, 10500 N. Military Trail. The outdoor ceremony features keynote speaker Clint Lowe, a U.S. Army veteran, and a performance by the Palm Beach Gardens High School Chorus. Seating is provided, and the city asks guests to leave pets at home.
