Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation has scheduled three free events for Saturday, Nov. 14, running from 9 a.m. into the evening: an outdoor flea market at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, a holiday handcrafts bazaar at the Charlotte Burrie Civic Center, and a smooth jazz, R&B and soul night at Hunters Manor Park. Admission to all three is free, so residents can plan a full day around them without buying a ticket.
Morning: Treasures & Trinkets flea market
The day opens with Treasures & Trinkets, an outdoor flea market in the west parking lot of the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center at 1801 NE 6th St. It runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and the city describes it as a place to shop secondhand finds and one-of-a-kind pieces.
- Hours: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Location: Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, west parking lot, 1801 NE 6th St.
- Admission: free
- Selling: vendor spaces are $25, with registration in person at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center
Midday: Holiday Handcrafts Bazaar
Across town, the Holiday Handcrafts Bazaar fills the Charlotte Burrie Civic Center at 2669 N Federal Hwy from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The city lists it as an artisan-style market with more than 25 vendors selling handcrafted, specialized items, which lands it about two weeks before Thanksgiving and the start of holiday shopping. Vendor spaces are already full, so this one is for shoppers.
- Hours: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Location: Charlotte Burrie Civic Center, 2669 N Federal Hwy.
- Admission: free to the public
- Questions: 954-786-5566
Because the two markets overlap in the morning, one practical plan is to start at the flea market before it closes at noon, then drive north on Federal Highway to the bazaar, which stays open until 2 p.m.
Evening: Smooth Sounds Soiree
The day closes at Hunters Manor Park, 1801 NW 4th St., with the Smooth Sounds Soiree from 6 to 10 p.m. The city's listing describes an evening of smooth jazz, R&B and soul, with food available through the night. The event is free and open to the public, and guests are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating on the grass.
- Hours: 6 to 10 p.m.
- Location: Hunters Manor Park, 1801 NW 4th St.
- Admission: free
- Bring: lawn chairs and blankets
