On Saturday, Nov. 14, Sawgrass Recreation Park, on U.S. 27 at the western edge of Weston, becomes a one-day music and art festival. Sacred Meadows Art and Music Project has booked 37 acts across three stages for a day of bass and downtempo music, art installations and visuals, run, its organizers say, as a leave-no-trace event on the edge of the Everglades.
The stages and the lineup
The festival's posted lineup, which it calls its final phase while promising more surprises, splits across three stages named for the setting.
The Swamp carries the largest bill, 18 acts: Aftrnoondlite, American Grime, Buku, Cavern, Esseks, Haven Woods, Jumanji, Ktrl, Logg, Meadoh, Mystic Methods, Oozik, Paradiselost, Raaket, Ricky English, Rumble In The Jungle, Smith. and Truth.
The Gator Pit has 12: Ashvra, Bondzeye, B-Rod, CTRL-Q, Dall, Donflock, Exia, Hairitage, Inaktiv, Ripperz, Saigga and Xytron.
The Shogun Outpost has 7: Alchmst, Dice Man, Krimsun, Lucid Luna, Stork, Subspace and Thai Jesus.
The festival lists its sounds as bass, experimental, halftime, deep dub, house and riddim.
Why the setting matters to the organizers
Sacred Meadows describes its mission around environmental stewardship, using the mangrove as its guiding image. It says it follows Leave No Trace principles, works with environmental consultants, keeps the festival inside controlled boundaries and runs strict cleanup, with the goal of leaving the land in the same or better condition than it found it. The festival also links to the Sawgrass Nature Foundation from its site.
