Pompano Beach's parks and recreation department has a full week on the calendar between Halloween and Veterans Day weekend, and most of it is free. It ends on Saturday, Nov. 7, on the sand south of the Fisher Family Pier, where the city's drone show returns for its fifth year.

Friday, Oct. 30: Boots and Ghouls line dancing

The E. Pat Larkins Center hosts a Halloween line dance party built around R&B, hip-hop and gospel music. All levels are welcome, and the city suggests comfortable clothes and a Halloween outfit.

Saturday, Oct. 31: HalloSCREAM 2026

On Halloween night the McNair Center holds HalloSCREAM, a free night of music, costumes and Halloween activities for all ages, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 4: Community Bingo Night

The E. Pat Larkins Center runs a free bingo night with prizes. There is no charge to play.

Thursday, Nov. 5: Oldies singo, and a movie

Two things happen the same evening. At the Herb Skolnick Center, the Oldies Music Singo and Dance Show swaps numbers for classic songs: players mark the hits as they recognize them, and winners take prizes. Across town, the E. Pat Larkins Center holds its monthly Community Movie Night, a family movie with light refreshments.

Saturday, Nov. 7: the drone show and a jam session

Pompano Beach started it in 2022 as the first municipal drone show in South Florida, and this year is its fifth. Firefly Drone Shows designs the 15-minute show, which this year leans on patriotic tributes for Veterans Day weekend and ocean designs, set to music. The city's events page puts the count at 500 drones.

The show starts at 7 p.m. over the ocean just south of the Fisher Family Pier, with a DJ and a party band from Junior's Entertainment Group playing on the beach from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. The pier itself closes before the show. On a clear night the drones are visible from up to five miles away, and the city streams the show live on its YouTube channel, @mypompanobeach, on Comcast channel 78 and on its website.

The same night, the city's free Starlight Jam Sessions bring live music to the Palm Aire Gazebo, for anyone who would rather stay off the beach.

On sale now: the senior Thanksgiving luncheon

Tickets for the city's Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon on Nov. 20, for ages 50 and up, go on sale Thursday, Oct. 29, at the E. Pat Larkins and Senior Activity Center. They are $15 per person and stay on sale through Nov. 20.
