Weston Regional Park will turn into an open-air theater on Saturday, November 7, when the City of Weston shows Toy Story 5 on a giant inflatable screen at the park's event stage. Admission is free, the film starts at 7:30 p.m., and it opens a stretch of city-run events over the next two weeks that also includes a puppet and magic show for kids, the start of a six-month foreign film series, a live band night and a blood drive at City Hall.

Here is what is on the calendar in Weston between now and November 18, with the times, places and costs posted by the city.

Saturday afternoon: Marci Poppins The Explorer

Before the movie, the Parks and Recreation Department's Kid-tacular Show Series brings Marci Poppins The Explorer to the Weston Community Center on Saturday, November 7. The show takes children on a tour of the natural world, from dinosaurs and gorillas to ocean stories and flowers that appear by magic, using puppets, magic tricks and humor along the way.

There are two showings, at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Admission is free, and every child must come with an adult. The Community Center sits inside Weston Regional Park at 20200 Saddle Club Road, so families can make an afternoon and evening of it in one place. Questions go to the Community Center at 954-389-4321.

Saturday night: Toy Story 5 at Regional Park

The Moonlight Movie in the Park runs from 7:30 to about 9:15 p.m. at the Regional Park event stage. The latest chapter in the Pixar series finds Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the toys facing a new rival for kids' attention: electronics. The film is rated G and runs 102 minutes.

The city asks moviegoers to bring lawn chairs or blankets and suggests arriving early to claim a spot, since the movie starts on time. Coolers are welcome, but alcohol is not. Dogs are not allowed at Regional Park, so pets should stay home. The city notes that movie titles can change.

Monday: the foreign film series opens with a story from Tangier

The Weston Foreign Film Series, presented by the Arts Council of Greater Weston and the City of Weston, opens its new season on Monday, November 9, at AMC Weston 8. The first film is Calle Malaga, from Spain, about an older Spanish woman in Tangier who refuses to go along with her daughter's decision to sell the family home and sets out to win back her belongings, finding romance along the way. It runs 116 minutes, in Spanish with English subtitles.

Screenings are at 4:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The series continues with one film a month through April 2027. A season pass covering every film costs $48 and is sold online at 1Weston.com, at the Weston Community Center and through the Weston Friends of the Library (the last two take checks only). Single tickets are $10 at the door while seats last. AMC Weston 8 is at 1338 SW 160th Avenue, which carries a Sunrise mailing address.

Saturday, November 14: FLAVOR at WestonNights

The WestonNights Outdoor Concert series returns to the Regional Park event stage on Saturday, November 14, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., with the live band FLAVOR playing current hits along with older dance-floor standards. Admission is free.

Food trucks will sell dinner on site, and picnics are welcome too. As with the movie night, bring chairs or a blanket, come early for a good spot and leave dogs at home.

Wednesday, November 18: give blood at City Hall

OneBlood will park its mobile donation bus behind Weston City Hall, 17200 Royal Palm Boulevard, on Wednesday, November 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The city says the need is pressing, especially for Type O donors. Donations go to patients in surgery, cancer treatment and emergency care, and to people living with blood disorders. Appointments can be booked online through OneBlood, and walk-ins are accepted.
